As a 20000+ hour Captain , I feel the iPad is too big and can be a safety hinderance. The instructor should take note of this immediately.

Still using a phone for a checklist I see, that’s gonna bite you….. get a checkmate. Your examiner can and probably will fail your phone in flight and make you perform a checklist item. There’s not a single examiner in my area that won’t fail your iPad or phone, if you’re using it to perform essential functions, just to see what you do.

Yup most likely fail that phone in flight and Tadaaa no more checklist

I ran across your video on my lunch break, figured I’d throw my 2 cents at you. Looks like you’re doing well, I have some critique if you want it. 1st, you really need to ditch your phone and use a checkmate checklist. Just google checkmate checklist and buy one, it’s only a few bucks. You’re really killing your budget with your preflight activity. Remember you’re spending 250 an hour (I’m guessing), which is $4.16 per minute. You spent over 20 minutes on your preflight( probably more without the edits) which is $83.20 per lesson (probably more). You really need to chair fly or invest in Microsoft flight simulator to develop a smooth flow. The checkmate checklist will definitely help with this. You spent nearly 8 minutes having your CFI show you how to use the avionics…. Do you remember everything he showed you? Probably not, which means every lesson you’re paying your CFI $4.16 per minute to teach you something you can learn for free at home. Garmin has free downloadable training simulators for their avionics. It cost nothing but your time to learn how to use them. Again, Microsoft flight simulator has the exact plane you’re flying, equipped with the same equipment. You can practice procedures until you pass out and develop a nice smooth flow that’s accurate and reliable. I noticed several times that your CFI was performing tasks for you. Talk with your CFI about not doing that, it’s a very bad habit to get into, “hands off” instruction is always best unless you’re going to break you, him, the airplane or an FAR. After you watch your lessons back, which is an excellent idea, look at it from the perspective of how you can separate what material you can learn on your own against what the CFI is 100% necessary for. Nothing will increase the cost of flight training faster than performing ground school activities while paying flight school prices. The Hobbs meter is your enemy unless you’re in the air, flying, not learning avionics. You’re radio use seems a little weak, I recommend VATSIM, again, a totally free simulator that’s real people, mostly student and private pilots, learning to communicate properly on the radio. VATSIM works hand in hand with flight sim. Often you will find actual ATC controllers or ATC controller students online practicing. Lastly I noticed you didn’t include carb heat or throttle friction in your idle throttle check. If you have carb heat (you may not), it’s important to make sure that the engine won’t die at idle with carb heat on, this happens and it can lead to an accident. You’re doing great, good luck to you.

Bravo (B) is a letter used to identify current airport weather information that changes often. The letter changes, as does the weather.

Can you tell me WHY you removed the stripes from the pre-mask? Its there to keep the stripes aligned when installing. It saves on the need for "eyeball engineering" as you put it.

Australian 25 years in Japan here. real estate here is not what it seems. Local customs and obligations exist for house owners ,especially outside the metropolitan areas. Fees, dues and other payments are requested on your doorstep, taxes can be steep,eg,residence tax, health insurance payments, local school sports days regardless of if you have a child, , condolence payments ,matsuri fees and more. These all vary from place to place but generally that's the deal, Failure to pay results on a bad rep and other repurcussions by the neighbors, Also things like compulsory shrine cleaning days, 8am on a Sunday, once or twice a year. DO it ,every time or things aren't good. Also mould can be an issue, and Japanese homes are built to last 30-40 years and be demolished. The land holds the value, the home is a depreciating asset from day 1.ALWAYS ensure the cement land markers are present before buying land.
