I thought Sue Randall was beautiful. My Teachers all wore habits from the Middle Ages (pre Vatican II), the Lay Teachers were elderly women retired. My favorite episode when Beaver breaks up Miss Landers and the Tennis Bum. After that Beaver and Miss Landers had a deeper relationship

Good morning Mrs. Cleaver- you sure look nice today. I guess even back in the innocent and carefree days of the 1950s, hollywood was already in the process of eroding morals and making good look bad and bad look good. It had always been considered a good thing for teenagers to respect adults. Eddie Haskell cast some doubt on that.

Great video. Going to the drive-in was always an exiting adventure. Hiding one or two in the trunk so they wouldn't have to pay the entrance fee.Meeting up with friends and having a great time till the movie started, always a cartoon and double features.. Necking with your girlfriend :). All great memories. Something todays generation may not understand.

Eddie Haskell was my favorite character on that show. He was always picking on Beaver, and I always wondered why. I was amused by his empty threats. One I remembered when was threatening one of Beaver's friends was, "...or you'll go home with your teeth in your pocket." He practically made that show.

Thank you for choosing Ted Cassidy to profile. I encountered Ted Cassidy suddenly one afternoon while standing at the back of the line at a Sears department store candy counter in Glendale, California. I lived "right next door" in "Eagle Rock". It was in 1970. My good friend "John" , who was just ahead of me in line, had quietly whispered over to me, "Hey Marty, look how tall that guy that just walked up behind you is, he's a giant!" I didn't want to just turn around and disrespectfully stare right up at the "big" guy, so I decided I'd turn around and simply pretend to 'just be looking for a wall clock to see what time it was getting to be"(many stores still had wall clocks back then!). Well, when I glanced up, right away I saw "Lurch" without any makeup on or wearing his Addams Family costume! I easily recognized him right away, I mean, who wouldn't? Well, I suppose my good friend didn't, he just said some "giant guy", ha! Well, I wanted to say something to "Lurch", but I couldn't think of a single thing that wouldn't sound kind of childishly-stupid. Since Sears always gave out free small-sized bags of popcorn to kids, only so their mouths were full and they wouldn't be able to pester their parents to "buy me, buy me, buy me" things, I just threw a funny joke up to him by saying, "HEY KID... YOU HERE TO GET FREE POPCORN TOO?!" Mr. Cassidy's eyes appeared sort of upset, but then they grew a sparkle in them, letting me know that he thought what I had asked him was humorous, TINY me calling GIANT him a "kid" and all. He knew I wasn't trying to pester him. Then he humored me kindly by slowly groaning out, in true Lurch fashion, " UUUUUUH....PEEEEENUUUUUT.... MMMMMM & MMMMMMS!". I laughed kindly to let him know that I thought what he had just said and done for me was "really cool". Then we talked for a couple of minutes more. I recall that I told him I was only there with my mother and two sisters just to get new school clothes. He told me he was just browsing, but that he might pick up some new tools while he was there because Sears sold good Craftsman tools, and maybe he'd buy a new washing machine because his old one was starting to give him trouble all the time now. That was on a Sunday afternoon. So on Monday I had the best "bragging rights" story to share before school, during short breaks between classes, at lunch and after school had let out. And I had a good friend to back up my story when other kids tried calling me a liar! I was only 13, and just starting 7th grade. I was going to a school in Eagle Rock that was both Junior and Senior high, grades 7-12. Well, even the big kids wanted to hear every detail of what me and Lurch talked about, and specially where we had met and at what specific time so maybe they might visit there and encounter him later on just like I had. The Addams Family show had already ended production by then, 1970. But they still showed reruns at the time, every afternoon even. "Maine" says "Hello" again.

In the 1980s, while I was working as a newspaper reporter, our editor spent a few weeks on crutches after he turned his ankle badly while playing basketball after work. Since my newsroom desk was nearest his, when he'd ring a little bell to let us know he needed help getting something, I'd walk over, and with a stiff baritone voice as my best Lurch, I'd say, "You rang, sir?"
@rovanderby75923 күн бұрын
That's funny! I have a friend who used to call me Lurch for a time (I'm 'only' 6 foot tall but he seemed to think I have the face for it). So each time he called me up on the phone and I saw it was his number calling, I answered the phone with that same line and voice.
