I remember that scene in Nicktoons and Toonzai DBZ Kai dub when I was 14. I was so upset that my biggest reaction was. "Why not they edited out the blood spattered like Cartoon Network did that decades ago? Back in the early 2000 era.

This could have been a good time to make this an anti-beer PSA like in the older dubs of DBZ, but I guess Kai made it not an anti-beer PSA and that's what they had even though there were lines that were revoiced.

1:40 Wrong, Freeza defeated Freeza, essentially what he said in H.F.I.L, but then again he was destroyed by Future Trunk’s so he’s right and wrong.

No. They died. They just never say it outright. Or rather, going to otherworld is implied to be a fantasy alternative to the afterlife instead of THE afterlife and that you go there INSTEAD of dying instead of AFTER dying. It's kind of like venting in Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight.

Now if it had the Original songs and music then it would be more awesome. I don't like the music sounding like it's from the Amazing Spiderman. It sounds unfitting in a terrible way. 😩

One of the most memorable scenes from any childhood cartoon I saw was Frieza cut in half. Even though I unfortunately only saw the Frieza and Android sagas as I could no longer get Cartoon Network (which Toonami was a part of) after 2001, I could still recall the image of Frieza falling years later. I recently bought the edited VHS to confirm that it was indeed shown, and it is. Only the blood spatters are censored. All four episodes on the tape are in fact borderline uncut, with blood only censored when it's moving (such as when they spit blood). Everything else is left in, the punches, kicks, blood on their faces and bodies. I'm amazed they got it past the censors. My only conclusion is that DBZ was, by far, the most violent cartoon I watched as a child. Nothing else even comes close.

Sorry which country were you in. I was in India, and the last episode of DBZ aired here in 2001 was when he starts fight with Ginyu Force.

@@oneearthan I'm in Ireland. I'd guess you saw the Saban version from the mid-90s, which was dubbed by Ocean from 1996-98. This was the first English dub of Dragonball Z and covered 53 of the first 67 episodes. It is known for its censorship (death referred to as The Next Dimension for example). It ended when Goku was fighting the Ginyu Force. Saban/Ocean also dubbed the first three movies, this time uncut. Funimation, who held the American rights to Dragon Ball, ultimately had disagreements with Saban and they parted ways, with Funimation continuing alone (with a new voice cast as they couldn't afford Ocean's cast alone) from episode 68.

@@SuperJM9 yes it was Oceans Dub, for us it India it started in 2000 or 2001 in Cartoon Network Toonami and finished the same year. It was very hard and devastating when it suddenly stopped without warning, a lot of us were pretty addicted. Also the Internet had arrived, I used to read about future battles and powerlevels in Wikipedia. There was no KZfaq. In 2004/5 while studying Engineering I was finally able to get my hands on a blue ray risk from a friend and finally was able to watch the entire series.

@@oneearthan I know the feeling. Cartoon Network was free to air in Europe at the time but its analog transmission ended in 2001, so we were cut off towards the start of the Cell saga, just after he absorbed Android 17. It was years before I was able to watch the rest. Your situation was the same for those watching the Ocean dub in its initial airing. It suddenly ended without explanation due to the end of the dub's production. It would repeatedly get to the Goku's fight with the Ginyu Force and the next day would be Raditz asking where Kakarot is. People bought bootleg VHS tapes of subtitled Japanese episodes, as there was no other way to see it until Funimation started their own dub.

I dunno why, but I freaking LOVE the fact that even though 4Kids removed all of Chiaotzu's dialogue to try to make the scene less sad... said dialogue is STILL PRESENT in the closed captions/subtitles. They didn't even try, did they?
