I grew up on a big property in the desert, had basically a Forest in the back yard, so i dug a pond around one of our stumps, and then a little trench on the side, i got the biggest couch i could find and used it as a bridge over the tent, i filled my pond up with water and the stump would be filled a two by for, or build a statue out of wood, and i would just sit back on the couch that sat over the water with fixing weed food beer, and watch the fire dance in the water, and everything that fell in the water made a huge plume, was awesome... Careful with the foam it blends in with the natural ascetic look of the desert landscape. My friend came over and walked into the water. Was funny but dangerous, dishwashers know to never stick your hand in town, but make sure you make markings and barriers so people know where not to step, it's funny but it's dumb to laugh and cause misfortune.

Did something very similar. I cut a hole in the center of the stump and filled it with used diesel oil, about 2 oil changes worth, a week later drilled a couple holes close to the bottom then put a little diesel on it and it burned great and fast

Worked out pretty well using it for a while as a fire pit after it burned down a good bit. I was thinking it might have helped speed things up a bit to cut down a good chuck and make firewood out it. When the stump got burned down a good bit place the firewood around it and get the burn going from the outside as well. Another thought was cutting slots from the top down and from the inside hole to outside of the stump. I got that idea from some video about making a campfire. I used some used cooking oil once but the oil has to soak in good and that takes a long time. Good video and idea cutting the draft hole around the bottom to allow for plenty of air flow.

I loved the video. It was a very fair comparison and I loved my Ms361 when I had it. I can't afford the Stihl saws I want, so I bought a Neo tec 872 which I heard was cloned off of the 038 magnum 72cc saw or the ms381 I'm not positive which one. Anyway it will be delivered today and it comes with a 24inch bar. I hope you can do more comparisons in the future.😎👍

I got mine in and was pleasantly surprised at how solid and well built it is. I have ran about a tank of fuel at 35:1 through it 5 heat cycles. Runs really good out of the box. I leaned it out some and then I took the muffler off and pulled the cage out and added a port and advanced the timing 4*. Really woke it up. Had to lean it out quite a bit to get it back where it was. I’m still fairly fat for another tank of fuel. Nice saw though and oils really good

I wish I knew about doing something like this 40+ years ago. My parents had all the trees removed from the front yard but they left all these stumps. My dad the. Paid someone to bring in trucks of dirt and covered them up. Now the yard is a danger zone because cutting grass you never know when you will fall into a hole. We have tried adding more dirt still have holes.

oh and the stump looks very cool near the end of its life there... good enough that i think some epoxy people might be interested in it as an art piece? or well furniture... i mean a big stump turned into a bench would be interesting to many. you may have found a new market... like used /repurposed timber from old barns and such... pieces of charred stump could be used with epoxy to make all sorts of things. second idea that popped into my head... sorry it's early, i just woke up. peace.

why do i want to mention Borosilicate glass so much? its a high temp glass, the best they can make i think? but expensive. thou when you passed the camera over the fire, its what came to mind, to film a fire from close using it to protect the camera... thou the camera would still need a cooling system.. i believe. i'm a laymen so idk the specifics, sorry. just the idea that popped into my head. i'm happy that i learned something thou, i always thought emerald made the best glass against heat... being that i think some of the u.s. jets/systems use it... i think? anyhow peace and ty for sharing.

I live in the woofs i have stumps from dead trees . Burning is not an option. I drill 1 half in holes as deep as possible and as many as possible.then i fill the holes with bleach 2 0r 4 times a week. The off brand will do. It takes time but the bleach will slowly rot the stump .it is slow but ot works.

I does burn *well*, making it into it's own rocket stove like that! I love it. I have a couple of large oak stumps that I don't want to pay $1200 plus for grinding. So I am brainstorming.my approach.

16:56 at this point plunge a hole way down until you hit dirt, then Use a pipe to drill a hole in sideways to meet up with the center you can use a hose and water to drill the hole, this makes the soil really wet so it won't spread out into the roots now pour gas into the stump and start your burn Using a tube to pump air down in from the side, really you can use a blow dryer on cool to send plenty of air into the bottom. Tape it to a 4" pvc pipe and just let it run. You'll burn up so much of it you can just fill it with soil.

Salt peter Epson salts makes tree stumps rot a lot faster, it can take a few years. I let an ash tree stand after it got killed by ash borer beetels, it stood for about 8 years big storm would come it loos a big branch, finely it took out the whole tree roots and all. Just have a big hole now. This was a 36" at the base tree when it was alive it was also up in a green belt in my back yard i let go natural. Its full of trees.

Interesting but I think it would have burned a whole lot quicker if you would have vented it on all 4 sides and stuffed a little wood into those slots. Anyway just a suggestion but I appreciate your idea of making a rocket stove out of it. I have a tree that busted off at the top so I cut the rest of it down to stump height. Thanks for the idea I’m going to give it a try👊

Cheaper and something to do while sitting back relaxing drinking beer/eating pickled hog knuckles and picking bluegrass music with your buddies on Saturday night's while your family and friends are gathered around after a hard weeks work having fun and chilling out and not worrying about having been bothered with the sound of an excavator and having to replant the grass.
