Great video as usual. But I think we should always ebcourage fixing stuff or making stuff better with a bit of skill. Pricing your time isn’t always relevant as we all off the clock sometimes ! That’s why many of us improve old Stanley’s.

Why was there a mysterious time limit? Was there some planing event you needed a cheap plane to attend?
@NovicksКүн бұрын
The time limit was comparing the cost per hour in labor to make it nice to use versus a plane ready off the shelf. Depending on your goals and resources it may be better to buy a quality tool outright than fix up cheap junk.

The moral of the story is, Amazon is equally as useless as youtube.

What did you finish the handles with? I'm in the middle of doing a lovely old Stanley No3 and I'm stuck on what to finish to put on the handle. Was thinking about using an osmo product.

This is like me with me trying to keep my horrificly clapped cars going! Could I get a new car? Sure, but I could just spend $25k worth of man hours keeping the old clunkers going.

that's actual skills, unlike 99% of woodworking "content creators" who are basically using a table saw to create all the shapes, which doesn't require any talent
@contestwill15562 күн бұрын
there's plenty of skill required to efficiently build something really nice regardless of what tools you use
@wsotw22182 күн бұрын
@@contestwill1556 agreed, power tools do make things quicker, but it's a skill in setting the machines or tools up correctly.

Ah to be 20 something again.. so positive your king turd of poo mountain almost forgetting you have ears wearing out your mouth proclaiming common sense ideas that you perceive have transcended brilliance. 35 to 40 is spent internally putting hand to forehead wondering how on earth you could’ve been so green behind the ears, and worse demonstrate the fact on the daily by yapping on and on. 40 on your over it being so immersed in your craft at peak mental prime you just let the rough edge drag. Mouth closed letting your work seasoned calloused hands speak for themselves as much as the variety of work your churning out. No not a KZfaq woodworker with milky smooth hands that wasn’t alive when the trade centers came down
