Shouldn't you be spot welding or plug welding these flanges together?? There is no "strength" in the way that you have "welded" along the edges.

They were plug welded the jogglers I used is a punch the other side it must not have picked up on camera right

Makes me want to get another mini! I really want a clubman estate. Had a yellow 1979 one and I wish I'd kept it. The paint was all dull but there was nothing really wrong with it.

@NotMarkKnopfler you should get one. There is a great parts availability for them and they will always bring a smile to your face the clubman estate is lovely but are getting harder to come by. Well at least over in ireland anyway. Thanks for watching mate 👍

Flux core is doable Just more grinding I would suggest to tilt the weld gun at 45 degrees or more

Alot more grinding. I don't like it in comparison to gas shielded it splatters everywhere the only plus side is the gap you need is alot smaller between the panels

Glad to see someone else using fluxcore. I've been using a Clarke 130 EN to weld a lower quarter and part of a sill/wheel arch on my Rover 216 GTi and I have found it quite straightforward but quickly learned that on 0.7mm thick panels, you dont need a 1mm gap. I've found you can still get full weld penetration when the gap is 0.5mm to zero and less distortion. Good luck with your project and channel.

@@TK42138 thanks for the comment and the subscribe mate I don't usually use flux core on car panels. I just said if give iy a try. It burns alot hotter than gas welding. You don't need a gap at all with it I'm using a panici Pro 3 in one welder. It's great I did have a sip migmate before that but didn't find it good with car body stuff

John my dad an .yself set this up shortly before his passing works wonderfully well ,still have it all set up in his garage i think next time yer up ill throw you all the stuff really good for the delicate stuff

Never considered electrolysis, always done blasting and powder coating route, but I expect the electrolysis method is a lot kinder to the metal?

Hi nick it probably would be kinder to the metal as there is no heat involved. Although the parts I did there I don't think the heat from blasting would matter to much. It is a cool way to remove it though I though. Maybe more delicate parts it would be better than blasting. Thanks for watching mate

We're you unable to activate cruise control with this fault? And did you lose the current gear display? I have an intermittent fault with mine and thos are the two symptoms.

Hi I had the handbrake symbol and said parking brake fault on the dash the gear display was working but only showed my foot was on the clutch when the pedal was on the floor
