Well... Kind of... There is a black sponge inside of the carbon looking pipe. I believe it could stop insects from getting in intake.

My 91 range rover classic has a solid frame ( 300,000 miles ) my wife's 94 disco 1 has a solid frame, we also have a 96 disco 1 ( spares dept ) with a solid frame, when we looked at changing the 94 disco for a disco 2 we looked at quite a few all with rusty frames, what happened did LR cut cost and buy cheaper frames?. we did think of putting a disco 2 body on the disco 1 frame but not sure it would work, anyone found a solution to this problem, as a foot note I had a 71 RRC many years ago and that had a rotten frame as well.

Thanks for the update, it's the classic Land Rover snowball effect. I'm trying to see what I can afford to put in my Disco 1 to replace the tired 200tdi, I'm hesitant to go to Td5 and I'm currently looking at fitting an American V8. There are no cheap options apparently!

In the UK, the (os) drivers side is nearly always more rusted than the passenger side (ns). It's always weird to me. Plus, my defender chassis at the front is still black from the shop, (1994) but the back is non-existent, hahaha.
@MattTester
@MattTester 29 күн бұрын
My V8 had that, I think the exhaust protects the near side chassis leg a bit but it could just be Land Rover magic.

Its a shame that there are no before and after performance figures to see the numbers other than a subjective opinion on the noise. Personally, I doubt that there has been any gain over the stock system as both have the same cold air intake and the foam filter in the canister would put me off immediately because they generally don't work, either filtration or flow. The stock air box will probably be excellent at flow and spend money on a K&N panel filter, you will have great flow, filtration and durability with 1M mile warranty and 40,000ml cleaning routine. You will also find its probably less prone to ingesting water should you go wading. I would have retained the stock filter box, fit it with a K&N and then insulated the existing box and ducts with closed cell insulation to retain the cold air. That package would have improved horsepower and torque.

Absolutely nothing like a great induction noise! Drove a little Caterham 660cc once - with its tiny turbo - was the most fun I've had on four wheels in a long time! Had the widest grin on my face everytime I floored the throttle!

I had a Forge hose kit on my old Smart Roadster and that helped the engine note too, it was a nicely made kit. I really believe a nicely tuned induction note can sound better than an exhaust note, less obnoxious for people outside too.
@TirsbaekTV

Very true! I'm hesitant to replace the exhaust partly for fear of it being obnoxious, and it sounds nice as it is now.

Hammerite? God no. Use a decent epoxy like Jotun Jotamastic, sticks better and is much harder wearing. Hammerite and smoothrite are pretty old hat.

Please treat the Chassis with T-Wash before painting galvanised metal or the paint will fall off! I tried Fox shocks on my 110, they are rubbish compared to Koni Heavy tracks!
@TirsbaekTV
@TirsbaekTV Ай бұрын
Thanks. People either seem to love or hate the Fox shocks (most of the negativity I've seen has been due to a lack of durability). But I've got them now so I'll give them a go and may switch to Koni if they're no good. At least it'd be an excuse for another video 😄

DON'T paint over the fresh Galvanizing, it will 'throw' the paint after a short period. You either need to leave it for a year to weather. Or treat it with an acid first. There are products sold for this but honestly don't paint it without doing something.
