UPDATE: v1.0.18 (and above) of our plugin now officially supports: 1) the batch-replacement of multiple different Smart Objects in the same mockup scene, and 2) PNG export for your final images. Regarding mockups with multiple Smart Objects, simply ensure that your target Smart Object layers are selected/highlighted in the layer stack, and the plugin will operate on them accordingly during the operations. For PNG export, simply select that as your preference when you set up/save operations.

I'm thiking on buying this plugin, and i wonder if it will make exactly what i need: I have a .psd of a two sides box, and every side is an smart object (One is Front Box, and other is Box Spine). I also have one folder with images for Front Box (A.png, B.png, C.png, etc.) and another folder for the Box Spines with the same names (A.png, B.png, C.png). Would this plugin be able to get Box Front A.png and Box Spine A.png, place them on its respective smart object, and export the results for all images? Thanks in advance. (And the same for the rest of the images B.png, C.png, etc?)

It's tricky in your case since you want to batch-replace different Smart Objects in the same mockup scene with **different images**. Version 1.0.17 of the plugin (which will be available within the next few days) and above will support batch-replacing multiple Smart Objects in the same PSD file simultaneously -- BUT it uses the same image for each one. So basically as it iterates through all the images in the Input Folder, you'll be able to just have whatever Smart Object layers you want to replace highlighted/selected in the layer stack, and it'll automatically replace all of those Smart Objects with the current image. This is more for situations where like, there would be 3 identical soda cans in different spots of a mockup scene where you want the same label applied to them, or 3 different business cards on a table where you want the same logo applied to them, etc. By contrast, what you're describing is much more complicated and isn't the sort of thing that's amenable to standardizing into the plugin -- definitely not in a way that's easy to use / user-friendly. The only way to set it up to handle every possible scenario of "what specific folder/image(s) you want to use for each specific smart object in each PSD file" would be to add tons of complex branching options that would make the plugin seem painfully complicated to use, especially for the 99% of users who are just creating basic mockups. Like for each operation you'd have to specify what specific Smart Object, with what name or in what position in the layer stack, you want to correspond to what different Input Folder. And that's assuming you want to iterate sequentially through cleanly separated Input Folders whose filenames map onto one another perfectly. Others users might have different folder setups , different "sequence of actions they want the plugin to perform" requirements, like one single folder with images named "1.png", "2.png", "3.png", where they want to iterate through the one folder, but batch-replace using groups of 3 images to create matching wall-art sets or something like that. That's kind of what I mean when I say, trying to push it to be this complex really makes it hard to actually standardize the product and set it up for those complicated operations. One thing many users tell us they really like about our plugin is how simple and easy to use it is. It's therefore pretty unlikely that we're going to add lots of very complex branching options that would only be utilized in maybe 1-2% of cases. I wish I had better news or could have been more helpful on this, I'm just trying to give you the honest answer as to the limitations of the plugin and the realistic ability to automate certain tasks in a user-friendly way within the plugin.

This is definitely something that's near the top of our list for features to add, however I can't give you a specific date as to when exactly to expect this. The main thing we're waiting for is more user demand for this specific capability. Thanks for the request on this -- we've taken note of this!

Does it work with products that have curves? Like mugs
@YouShouldAutomateThat2 ай бұрын
Yes, it should. As long as your mockup template is set up to have a Smart Object layer which holds the artwork design, this plugin should work to effectively automate your mockup creation. However read the note below on this to avoid any weird issues. (Note: There is one weird condition we've seen that causes issues with mockups like this. Let's say instead of using a pre-made mockup template that you downloaded online, you're using a mockup that you made yourself. If you're applying certain transformations like perspective warps to the mockup/artwork layer, you need to convert the layer to a Smart Object first, and THEN apply the perspective warp to the Smart Object layer. What we've seen is, if you apply perspective warp to a (non-Smart Object) layer of pixels, and convert it to a Smart Object only afterwards? It'll cause weird issues in Photoshop where when you replace the Smart Object with a different image, it doesn't retain the perspective warp -- and the image will instead appear flat in the mockup scene. This isn't an issue specific to our plugin, it's just some quirk specific to how Smart Objects work in Photoshop. So the key thing is: If you're creating your own mockup template and applying distortions or perspective warps or anything like that? You'll want to convert the target layer to a Smart Object BEFORE applying those transformations. Do it that way and everything should work fine for your needs -- where the perspective warp or curves or whatever will be retained when you replace the Smart Object with different artwork images / designs -- both in Photoshop generally and when using our plugin as well.)

Oh wow so this plugin works for any mockups as long as they have a smart object layer that it detects?
@YouShouldAutomateThat3 ай бұрын
That is correct! Technically if you're interested in the more specific logic of how it works: If it's a PSD file with only one Smart Object layer, it'll automatically perform the automated batch-replacement / export-mockup-image operation on that layer. If there are *multiple* Smart Object layers in the document, you'll need to select (ie, set as as the active layer) the specific Smart Object layer that you want it to perform the batch-replacement operation on.

After adding TRIAL code, I have a message "no compliance". How can I install the plugin manually? Do you have a version for manual installation?
@YouShouldAutomateThat4 ай бұрын
Do you have an active Photoshop / Creative Cloud subscription? The plugin install is done through the Creative Cloud application -- so as a guess, the root cause of that message you see on the Adobe Checkout Page could potentially be because your Photoshop subscription isn't up to date. As to your other question, currently we do not have an option to manually install the plugin. After checkout the install is performed via the Adobe Marketplace / Creative Cloud application. I realize that may be inconvenient in your case and I do apologize.

@YouShouldAutomateThat5 ай бұрын
Normally it should automatically add it to Photoshop via Creative Cloud. In your case, try logging into your Creative Cloud application, navigating to the Plugins sections, and see if you can find it there. Perhaps your settings are configured to require manually installing it via Creative Cloud. Let us know if you're able to find that section + get it working. Here is an Adobe guide on installing plugins that should help: helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/installingextensionsandaddons.html

@YouShouldAutomateThat5 ай бұрын
Try navigating to your Plugins section in your Creative Cloud application. See this image here which highlights the section in your Creative Cloud interface: helpx.adobe.com/content/dam/help/en/creative-cloud/kb/installingextensionsandaddons/jcr_content/main-pars/procedure_copy/proc_par/step_2098644767/step_par/image/search-all-plugins.png.img.png You should be able to find the Batch-Replace Smart Objects plugin in there, assuming that it's been installed. If you cannot find it in that section, it's possible there was some kind of an error with the plugin installation process. In that case, I would recommended contacting Adobe Support -- as Adobe actually handles the install process itself via their Creative Cloud + Photoshop subscriptions. Let us know if additional assistance is needed!

Looks great but $9.99/month seems a bit steep.
@YouShouldAutomateThat7 ай бұрын
It may be for some people, however it definitely depends on your workflow. If you do tons of work with mockups in Photoshop, this plugin can save a LOT of hours each month. One graphic designer who uses the plugin, for example, told us that it would save her about 30 hours per month in her workflow. Or if someone is running a print-on-demand store where they're adding hundreds of products, generating hundreds and maybe even thousands of mockup images, the time savings could be huge. So let's say you price your time + labor at $30/hr -- if you're saving 30 hours/month on this process, that works out to $900 in your own labor hours each month -- which can now be freed up to be spent on more valuable activities. That said, we do offer a free trial so people can test it out before paying anything, and we also provide a money-back guarantee if people don't find the plugin to be useful.
