I still have a set of those for my 02’ Train 🚂 but I took off the covers and wrapped them, now stored away, nice pipes. IMHO, the baffling sounds more traditional, crisp and they have a nice decel rumble on engine braking. Being ground pounders right below you, the sound would bounce and travel up so any ride over a couple hours and I need ear plugs. I thought they were the best sounding pipes on the market until I got my RB LSR but I still think about throwing them on from time to time because I miss that traditional 2into2 sound. 🤘🏻⚡️

Seems you would lose a ton of mid and low end torque. Did you notice a difference in power?

Mike West yes it did, basically loud for nothing now. This bike has been put up the last two years but I’m tuning it this summer, if I remember I’ll comment back here and let u know how it feels once it’s tuned properly without baffles.

@@andrewcampbell9695 I have the same pipes and the FP3 tuner. Was thinking about removing the baffles but don't want to lose power. I wish they made competition baffles for them but they only make quiet ones. Let me know what it feels like. Shiny side up man

Would I need to put a fuel pack on my fuel injected 01 deuce if I put these big radius on it?
@andrewcampbell9695
@andrewcampbell9695 5 жыл бұрын
It is customary to change the engine map from OEM spec by adding a fuelpak to get better performance and fuel economy with your new setup. You can also avoid things like misfires that can occur when changing the air pressure from alternating the exhaust/air cleaner. A fuelpak is way better than no fuel pak, but truthfully only a professional with a dyno could properly tune your new setup for optimal performance. It is not recommended, but you can just change the pipes and not add the fuel pak.

Andrew Campbell so if I get a fuel pak from v&h all it will be is plug and play or do I have to get a dyno done sorry about all the questions?
@andrewcampbell9695

@@derekquinones8614 no worries at all, ask away my man. I was lost too when I started getting into all this and still have a lot to learn. Yes, it is plug and play and will not require a dyno. It comes with a V&H app that you can access the fuelpak through and change settings based on your setup. For mine, it was something along the lines of big radius 2 into 2 with a heavy breather air cleaner. So I just selected that map and bike seems to run fine.

When you took the baffle out was there any fiberglass packing?
@andrewcampbell9695
@andrewcampbell9695 5 жыл бұрын
No. Just the two baffles I show @1:07 were the only thing I removed and did not see any type of fiberglass packing in the pipe once the baffles were out.

How did you get the top one out? Mine is being a pain in the ass.
@andrewcampbell9695

hunter whaley lots of elbow grease. Back and forth until it breaks loose enough to pull it out. I literally pulled on it with pliers then lightly rubber hammered it back in (making sure not to hit the chrome too hard) and pull out again with pliers. I probably made 1 or 2 millimeters of progress per cycle of pulling and pushing. Keep going, it should come out but my top baffle was also hard vs the bottom pulled right out!

Just curious, did you have any problems with the start up? What tuner do you use and which map did you have set for it? Any probs with it not wanting to start after?
@andrewcampbell9695
@andrewcampbell9695 5 жыл бұрын
No start up problems. Probably have about 3,000+ miles on it since I did the baffle removal. Tuner is the Vance and Hines fuel pak and it is a pre set map (can't remember exact name) something along the lines of "Heavy breather air intake/high flow exhaust".

Christopher Riley look behind the pipes, like the part facing the bike that the heat shields don’t cover. Near the tail section of the pipe, you’ll see a small screw sticking out. These two screws (one in each pipe) hold the baffles in. Once those are removed the baffles are right at the end of the pipe, you can reach in and touch it. It will looks like a spiral tube (well mine were) and it takes some elbow grease to get them out but I just kept pulling it, pushing it back in and repeating it until it loosened up enough to slide out.

Whoops edit: saw you said you found the baffles. If I remember correctly, my screw was on the outside, but maybe it was on the inside I really can't remember now lol... You may have to purchase a special tool to get in there at that angle. From what I remember, I just used a basic set of mechanic tools.
