Two thoughts omitted here are #1 maybe you want a quick game. #2 if you are overmatched by your opponent, its a good way to snipe a win.

I’ve found 2 good strategies in the beginning for the “updated” version. First strategy: make sure you can reach Casurgis on turn 1 with King. Hire 2 mercenary longbows at capitol (spear brother optionally) then a mercenary Celtic warrior in Hycernia. Fast march the Raging Boars army to merge with your king. Then you can replace Karl with a sword master like Baldovin and the king as well for another sword master. The Boii armies are divided when you assault. Deploy on the opposite side near the water, and where Baldovin will be. Attack the army outside the gates. Use youths on Oathsworn. Save longbows for the walls. Deploy them across the water in the corner away from the gatehouse towers near the buildings. Put them in guard mode to avoid being in range of their towers and javelins. Assault the walls away from that gatehouse back there. Second strategy: enter campaign then quit until you can achieve a peace treaty on turn 1 for 2000. I think 4000 is guaranteed but you need that 2000 gold if you’re looking to take on the Cherusci and others. Use your spy to starve them. Also when in doubt try and just spam club levy to save on upkeep and shoot for 6 cunning (while not general) to embezzle for money. I hope that helps.

When my friends and I played back in the day, one of our mods was called "Auto-Buy". You rolled a single D6 at the start of your turn and got some extra land units. It was something like a roll of a 3 or 4 was 4 free infantry, a 2 or a 5 was 4 infantry plus one artillery and a 1 or 6 was 5 infantry and 1 tank. Everything was free. It was brought in because everyone wants to buy the big expensive toys to play with often forgetting you need the ground forces to attack and win territories. This game needed Auto-Buy

Ingame Calculator is usually going for Implausible if you have a Amphibious assault with a Naval Battle before. For some reason it assumes you lose the naval battle and cant even attack or something like that.

Wow, nice game. Fun to see the difference in playing and editing, you are so much quicker! I think you played very solid. Greyshot had a lucky start and took some risks that panned out. I would have gone for India for sure, I think round 4 or 5 should have been doable? But then I might have been too late for Moscow. But I wouldn't have needed a second IC, could switch to tanks in Manchuria sooner to time them arriving in Caucasus with the slow troops and whatever comes from India. I wouldn't have time to go to Australia, but maybe Madagascar and drop a tank in Africa? But overall, you held Germany and I'm not sure I would have been in time, so good job!

Seleucid looks great fun for mixing some of the better versions of units present in the game. Most of them are a higher tier than they would be for their factions. Lots of expansion possibilities. The strongest and easiest faction to play remains Greek Cities for their armored hoplites on just a tier 3 barracks. Even better expansion possibilities and easier to defend with even the basic hoplites.

Seems like ever since this campaign was recorded they made the suebi start harder for some reason. They gave the boii 2 starting armies instead of one, meaning they start recruiting from turn 1, and the cherusci declare on you by turn 3 at the latest every single time, even if you've just sat in your capital recruiting. I know because I've played the suebi start multiple times trying to figure out what the best strategy is. So that's 3 armies to deal with immediately, when all you have are trash tier levy, low tier skirmishers and probably the worst general unit in the game. So far, seems like you get the best results by transferring all your spear levy to the second army, get a full stack of club levy and spear brothers on your main army, put both armies in raiding stance right by your border between you and the boii and wait for one of their armies to come attack you. That way you kill the boii economy, give them a bunch of problems with public order, leave them no choice but to attack you one on one since the AI is too stupid to reinforce its armies unless it's by accident, and if the cherusci try to attack your capital you're still close enough to get them. This start still sucks ass though, having to fight oathsworn with trash levy is ridiculous.

16:11 that's just a thing with the suebi unfortunately. The balance of power thinks all their low and mid tier infantry sucks ass, which they do, even against similarly trash units. Makes the early game a pain in the ass because you have to manually fight every single little engagement or else the game will just kill half your army just to take a 8 unit garrison. My guess is either it's heavily overestimating the single unit of oathsworn, or it's heavily penalizing you for not having cav while the enemy does
