That ended up being very pretty. I learned a few things with this demonstration. I love the moon setting and I also see that I could do something nearly the same with a mostly cloudy but partly sunny day so that there are more muted colors with some pops of sunlit areas. I also learned that a highly textured sky tends to move forward (more detail) but a softly blended sky tends to recede. I finally purchased a paint mixing recipe book. When I learned to cook I used recipes until I learned enough to try a few on my own. Why should I reinvent the color mixing wheel when others have done it before me? I almost wanted to stop painting because of how frustrating it was to mix colors.

I love this idea! I am so new to painting that I keep trying different color combinations on my landscapes to get to the one that says what I want it to say. The one I am currently working on is been painted in 4 different color schemes. I might as well abuse one canvas instead of multiple other ones. Ha ha. I finally stumbled across one that seems to work. I do not want to keep painting with the same 5 colors over and over. Boring. Thank you.

Great alternative to gessoing over a painting that didn't work well. Though I thought the original painting was beautiful too, as well as the reworked version. I'll give this technique a try to save a few of my canvases. Thanks for this tutorial.

Same palette as Mark Carder (Draw Mix Paint). I found out that I love colours and limited palette was somehow... sad for me. I love to paint animals and still lifes, I'm pathetic at portraits and landscapes still need some workhours to put in them🤣 Great video and lovely painting.
