It's funny that my retro trials bike is a 1976, a decade older than their fancy 80s retro trials bike. It's the only trials bike I've ever ridden.

Great vid! Wonder what mm size master cylinder pump he uses for his clutch? I think standard must be 9mm and they use a 10 or 12mm. Looks like all the top level guys do the same

The original pro nearly sent them bust, they went for a staple classic to a bike that didn’t work. Yeh it was the lightest bike but it had major issues, over heating, a clutch that was an off on switch , absolutely horrendous build quality and the over look was something of a kids painting. 2 years on it became a weapon and it is now .

Trial isn't popular anymore, of course beta has to invest on somethimg else also because hard enduro is getting popular and beta engines are perfect for it

Trials is getting more popular again but the mindset of “it isn’t popular” doesn’t help! Most riders need some trials skills trust me. As a trials person watching amateur hard enduro is hard to watch. Basic trials ability would transform these riders abilities…

I've ridden a 1976 YT175 Trials since it was new. I consider it my mechanical horse which goes some extreme places. I've never ridden a modern or European made Trials bike. I think that I might like it a lot.

Great episode, 👍 I must admit (re bike prep)the amount of people I used to have to help sort their bikes at track days, basic shit like chain tension and lubricant, oil/ coolant levels, spongy brakes.The mind doth boggle!

Great show as always. I'm told that in 2020(?) Beta redesigned the rear mud guard (fender here in the states) reshaping the end of it and making it out of much "bendier" plastic that "hopefully" isn't as brittle as the old plastic. Have you been able to tell if there's a difference between the flexibility of the old and new fenders?

Just as you mentioned about the 5 on intergram saying it was like been at dentist an advert interrupted advertising an electric push bike 😄 🤣, cracking show onse again 👏 was going to ask could your recommend a decent training dvd or download, always rode old school and getting back into it I love to learn to modern way more but sometime feel as though abit more nolage on it would reassure I was doing the correct techniques, cheers

Live broadcast would take a lot to organise (I could do it) but no one would help fund this. I already invest an enormous amount into trials media….we would need partnership

Fantastic show lads , love the SSDT stories, regarding Shirty telling the Birks story, back in 1982 I rode a whole week with Birks (whilst he was a factory Fantic rider ) Mid week I broke the brake pedal on my 350 Italjet, emptying my basic bum bag out looking for tools and not really knowing how to get back running again Birks said to me " I want you to imagine you're in the middle of the jungle with nothing , no tools, no spares , no help ....... what do you do ? "Think primitive" he said ...... improvise , look around you and make something out of anything that will enable you to get going. I have never forgotten that and have passed that little nugget of knowledge on to many struggling riders over the years. A true iconic legend within our sport 👃

Nice to see some new life being breathed into the GB rounds I hope the other clubs can get on board with the “festival style” event, just like Ripon MC have been doing the past few years it’s really brought up the youth talent and given a good weekend long buzz to the sport that all ages can enjoy can’t wait to see what they come up with this year.
