@SCVTA I don't think ezfare app is supported by VTA anymore. If I am correct, then maybe you should remove this video from youtube to avoid confusing riders. Thanks.

Sept. is rail safety month: when will the safety hazard on the downtown San Jose light rail platforms be mitigated? All riders, especially those with disabilities, are unable to safely navigate these platforms and are therefore denied safe access to the light rail.

Formal planning for BART began with the setting up in 1957 of the Bay Area Rapid Transit District, a county-based special-purpose district body that governs the BART system. The district initially began with five members, all of which were projected to receive BART lines: Alameda County, Contra Costa County, the City and County of San Francisco, San Mateo County, and Marin County. Although invited to participate, *Santa Clara County supervisors elected not to join BART due to their dissatisfaction that the peninsula line (the western leg) only stopped at Palo Alto initially, and that it interfered with suburban development in San Jose, preferring instead to concentrate on constructing freeways and expressways.* Though the system will expand into Santa Clara County in 2019, it is still not a district member. The San Jose of 1960 had a population of only 204,196. I stayed in San Jose during the summer of 1970 (two years after Dionne Warwick's song) and its population of 459,913 looked so much sparser than today. The economy was still agriculture with orchards on the east side. Silicon Valley did not exist at the time. Estimated population in 2019 was 1,021,795.

Great service, I recently tried it over my 4th of July vacation, it was a blast. Fast, efficient, FUN, clean, shelters were nice, buses are large and they can tranport lots of people and bikes. Went from downtown SJ to Eastridge in record time! Try it, I'm sure you'll enjoy the ride.

Please don't take away 37!! it is the most convenient way for me to get from home to school. It literally takes only one bus for me to get to my destination. I start from teh Winchester Light Rail station and hop onto 37 and continue my path towards higher education. A lot of old people around my neighborhood take 37, too. therefore, eliminating this route would disable many of these elderly to be able to transport anywhere.

I have been using 37 vta bus from capitol light rail to WVC for the past 1 1/2 year almost. This bus route has alot of value to teh community, it takes people from west south san jose to saratoga. Removing this route would leave a huge burden for the riders. It woudl require us to take two buses instead of one. It would benefit vta financial but it would leave a hole in our pockets and we would have to reconsider our form of transportation. Please reconsider in not removing 37 vta route, it is essential not just for WVC students but for the community.

I am a rider of Route 37 and I use it to commute to class and back every Monday to Thursday. Suffice to say, it's pretty important for my commute. I personally only ride it until the Winchester Transit Center, so if 26 does the same with relatively the same times, I have no complaints changing. I personally don't like to transfer much if at all due to the issue of having one bus be late, therefore causing me to miss another later bus, but walking for an extended period of time may not be possible for others who live in the eastern area where 37 used to cover.

I always board the 65 at 7: 00 n the morning at Kooser and Blossom Hill and get off at Leigh and Moorpark because I attend San Jose City College. Also it takes me to the side of the campus where my classes are. Also when I am not in class I take this bus to connect to the 25 at Leigh and Fruitdale, so I can to the Valley medical center to see my doctor.

Lots of Bret harte middle school students and Leland high school students take bus 13 back to home after school. Completely cutting off the bus is not acceptable. I would really appreciate if VTA can work out reasonable alternatives so that the kids and the elderly can still use the public transportation!

Cutting route 13 isn't acceptable. I rely on route 13 to get to the Almaden and Chynoweth light rail stations which then take me to San Jose State. If I don't have route 13, I don't have a way to get to light rail.

VTA is a public transportation service. Shouldn't it be used to serve the population who can't drive at the moment when they need it? And this should not be just assuming people normally driving their cars will never use it. Just think when you have your car serviced or repaired. It seems that VTA is only planning to service the area already having high demands and cutting services in areas having less riders. If VTA is going to milk your cow like that, why do we have to pass ballots like Measure B for VTA? It does not seem to be the right way to use the tax money coming out of our own pockets. If you want to cut services in the areas like Almaden Valley, please check with your riders and taxpayers there first. This includes numerous students, seniors, and residents. Please keep the buses in the Almaden Valley. It's just not fair that you take the tax money from that area and not providing any service there.

I'm glad to see BART coming to Santa Clara Co. But at the same time I am disappointed that it has taken so long and that SSC will only have two stations, considering SCC is the most populous county in the Bay Area @1.8M, with none of them south of San Jose. The next largest county is Contra Costa @ 1M, nearly half the number of potential riders, which also only has two stations.

Without 13 you are basically stuck in Almaden without a car, and 63 is being cut too short if it doesn't reach the Almaden community center/library. I know a lot of people use 13/63 connections, and 13 alone. Please consider those people when you make changes.

We are surprised to hear #13 will be discontinued! And Discontinue due to low ridership? Really? If you take the bus in the morning, or in the afternoon (1pm, 2pm, and 3pm) the bus is almost full! Lots of students have to stand on the bus. The main riders for #13 are seniors and students. They are those who cannot drive due to age and health reasons. VTA needs to take them into consideration instead of neglecting their needs. We like VTA, and we hope your can make the right decisions.

I think cut off bus 13 completely is not acceptable although I understand that you're looking at the entire duration of service hours, beyond school hours. I went to nextnetwork.vta.org/network-design-changes to look at your data closely. Now my questions for you are: 1. Do you have the data of how many boardings per hour during 2:00pm to 5:00pm on weekdays? I was taking bus 13 with my son who is 13 and take it to home everyday and will have to take it at least 4 years more when he goes to Leland. the number of boardings during that time is way more than 20+. 2. Would you accept that keeping bus 13 with reduce frequency? Have you calculated, in order to reduce the cost from nearly $8 per rider to $6, how much frequency need to reduce with no change during 2:00pm to 5:00pm? Bus 13 matters a lot to Bret Harte middle school and Leland HS students! And, because the students are not with disabilities, Access paratransit service will NOT help. Your consideration is greatly appreciated!

Hi SCVTA, thank you for your reply. I understand that VTA needs to be profitable from a company's point of view. But the government also needs to take care of the residents, right? If you are talking about #13 cost you more to operate, look at how much Almaden people pay every year. We pay lots of taxes every year, especially property taxes in Almaden. I wish I have a char as well to show you how much more. I am sure you have that in your database. VTA is going to cut ALL public transportation out of Almaden!!! I feel that I contribute taxes every year, and now what? Our Almaden seniors and students cannot even have the minimal mobility that they want to. We have lots of transferred students from San Jose downtown, and they are provided with PUBLIC SCHOOL BUS. But our own neighborhood students will get buses cut out. Our Almaden students need to walk to schools! Our Seniors are locked in houses! Our people who cannot afford cars cannot go to work! Please don't only look at numbers! VTA and government need to provide services to people who really need them! We are talking about people who need help!

My parents ride #13 everyday with their friends from home to library. That is the only social activity they have. All of them are above 60 years old. Without #13, they cannot walk to library! It's too far. Please make sure those seniors people get the bus services every weekday.

We live in Almaden Valley and we take #13 and #63 everyday to go to Library and community center. If VTA terminates #13, and change route for #63, we have to walk 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to community center! We are seniors, and have knee and eyesight problems. We cannot drive. VTA is the only way for us to get out of the house. If we need to walk more than 2 hours a day to go out, our health will not allow us to do so!!! Please please don't terminate #13.
