Which arrangement of Chaconne would you recommend we use ?
@ClassicalGuitarRocksАй бұрын
Top of the list would be the Bach score, a modern edition of the violin score (Free in IMSLP). If you can wait, and it may be awhile, I will be releasing my score at the end of all of this. However, if you really want a good guitar score, the Carlevaro version - you just need to strip out some of his added bass notes. What ever you do, stay away from the Segovia edition. Hope that helps?

You can't say "We are going to learn it as Bach wrote it" if you're adding in extra notes. Your A bass note in bar 57 sounds nice but Bach didn't write it, you did.
@ClassicalGuitarRocksАй бұрын
You are correct, however small thing to note I do add the disclaimer in at that point "You can put an A in there and I do", signifying that Bach does not. But moving forward I will make sure to make it more obvious. Thanks for letting me know. 🤘🏼

I have decided to take the Villa-Lobos 12 in 12 challenge. I don’t expect to be able to master each etude at the end of each month. I do expect myself to have the discipline to put the effort into the etudes I find difficult for 4 weeks at a time.

Good for you, let me know how I can assist you. These are for life, so the main thing is to approach this with an initial - learning the pieces mind set. Then cheery pick the parts of each study that really challenge you. That is what I do now.

I have a 1,200 dollar Cordoba, and it sounds great, but trying to do a pulloff he note doesn't sustain at all. I'm excited about getting this down. I play bass with a local Symphony Orchestra, but I would like to surprise the director sometime in the future, because he's thought about doing this piece
@ClassicalGuitarRocksАй бұрын
The sustain issue could be a number of things, not necessarily the guitar: string age, set up for the technique, vibrato. Could you maybe post something either online or maybe send in email and I will try and help? Nothing better than surprising the conductor! 😉 Baas and classical guitar are the perfect side by side instruments to have. 🤘🏼

Strings? Fret gauge? Is the fretboard radiused?
@ClassicalGuitarRocksАй бұрын
Which guitar? The Gee is over standard length, I have a high C, not radiused, string gauge is standard too, D'addario high tension. The 19th Century guitar was standard strings as well, not radiused, and honestly I can not remember if the string gauge was different, I don't think it was.
@AndrewtafelklavierАй бұрын
@@ClassicalGuitarRocks eg I play a stauffer legnani replica - nut is 48mm, scale 620mm, fretboard radiused 20", strings aquila ambra 800 gut style -all these make a significant difference to playability and response.
