@@Saddlebags73 There over 73,000 American service members buried in 13 European cemeteries and another 16,000 still missing. Sometimes when I hear European politicians wanting Americans out of there countries I wonder if they I'll send the dead back too. Sorry but I've visited several of the cemeteries and it is staggering to me how those who died there seem to be forgotten.

Ah that’s a shame. Yes they really are beautiful bikes. I sold this one as it just wasn’t suitable for the majority of my rides, but I do miss it.

A lot of young Americans died on that beach on that day. It’s a horrific tale. Whilst practicing for the Normandy landings they were caught by surprise by a German flotilla. The Royal Navy knew they were coming but due to different radio frequencies were unable to send warning. Seeing the tank somehow brings it home and stirs the emotions. If it wasn’t there the whole saga would most likely be forgotten. Thanks Patrick 👍🏼

@@jimsadler8704 at one time you could walk around the remains of Hallsands, but I think it's been fenced off - haven't been for years. I'm sure I was told dredging was for Devonport Dockyard, which would be the Admiralty.

@@christinelee9857 Yes it was, Christine. The Admiralty were told of possible problems but carried on anyway. There is a pathway down to the old village but I'm not sure if it is still fenced at the bottom.

Just watching repeat of Antiques Roadtrip on the telly - they are at Hallsands, well the cliff above what's left. There's a viewing platform with description of how village was destroyed..
