It really depends on what type of plants you are growing! But we have a crop chart here that gives you some optimum temperatures for a few different varieties: proponics.co.uk/blogs/plants-and-vegetables/hydroponic-crop-selection-an-easy-guide?_pos=1&_sid=2d78b11a0&_ss=r

Why not use say Coke to lower pH? Baking soda to raise it? Vinegar to lower. It's not the space program people. No need to buy pH up and down $$$$. Simple stuff you already have at home.

While it's certainly possible you have to be cautious of how precise your measurements are, any additional compounds that may affect the plants, and a lack of long-term stabilisation, to name a few. Balanced solutions that are specifically for hydroponics are designed to mitigate all of these issues.

Blue Light (450-495 nm): essential during the vegetative stage as it promotes leafy growth. Red Light (620-750 nm): important for flowering and bulb development. As the onions mature and start forming bulbs, increase the proportion of red light.

I am confused as one of your downsides notes that aeroponics has less support for bigger plants, but could you not simply use a dwc setup and transform it into an aeroponics setup? For example, thick net pots and misters that will miss the roots that come out?
@proponics
@proponics Ай бұрын
Yes this is a great solution regarding support. This is not to say don’t try it or engineer a solution, simply that it might present more challenges or that there might be a system that is better optimised.

I think I have found a good solution to keep the water temperature at a suitable level. Put a 50L tank in an 80L tank, in this way an air space is formed, you can use the air as insulation as well. At the Emirates you can go slalom. Using air as isolation, like a box above the ceiling where all those snow machines are.

@@proponics Hi. Very simple, I have put my water tank 50 liters in an 80 liter empty container. I have to say that all my NFT are on my terrace, sunny all day long. I don't know how it would go when the heat wave comes, it will probably be 30-40 celcius soon. It works now and keep the temp 22-25 grader the last few days at 30 degrees. Regarding this in the Emirates, indoor slalom, there is a documentary that I have seen on television. I'm not that good in English to explain it better.

Question when growing fruits and vegs do I use nutrition all the way to harvest and if so is the nutritions ok for human consumption🤔
@proponics
@proponics Ай бұрын
Yes your plants should always have a source of nutrition as long as they are growing. That said you don't need to feed them up to the very moment of harvest, but you don't want to leave it too long. Some growers chose to reduce the amount of nutrient they use or "flush" the nutrient completely (we have a video on this I will link below). It's important to remember that the type of nutrient needs to be different as well during the fruiting stage. Most commercial mixes will be label as "grow" or "bloom" and you want to use "bloom" when flowering and fruiting. Bloom nutrients are basically higher in phosphorus. As for consuming plants that have been grown using hydroponic nutrients, yes they are completely safe to consume providing you have been using nutrients that are approved for use in hydroponics. DON'T however ingest hydroponic nutrients by themselves. Video on hydroponic flushing 👉🏻 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qs10mpqf1LidXas.html

@proponics

It will simply effect the plants across the frequency of how often the temperature is changing. So while I can’t see the up and down in the temperature having any specific unique impact, it will simply just have the compounding effect of all the ups and downs put together over time.

@proponics
@proponics 2 ай бұрын
A rise in EC can be the result of the plants needing more water than nutrition at a particular time. If the water level drops without nutrient uptake it will increase EC. This can also happen as a result of water evaporation. As for tabulating we’ve got a table you can use here 👉🏻 proponics.co.uk/blogs/nutrients/g

which temperature is too high? in my tent i have an average temperature at the canopy of 27-28°C, plants are growing but what are the limits?
@proponics
@proponics 3 ай бұрын
Great question, the temperatures I use in the video are a general guideline but each grow will have its own nuances like the species of crop you are growing, humidity, etc. If you find that your plants are looking healthy and that their growth rate is as you expect then a temp between 27-28°C should be all good (it is on the higher end though). If you start pushing 30°C then you're definitely going to begin risking the health of your plants. The best thing you can do is always keep a log of the temperature and the health of your plants that way if you notice any change in the plants' health you can check back on what the temp was and get a better understanding of how to adjust it to maximise growth.

@proponics
@proponics 6 ай бұрын
This is quite normal yes, pH levels always change when using fertilizers and some additives, plus they may also fluctuate during the course of a day so don’t worry. Generally plants like a slightly acidic solution between 5.5 and 6.5 so you are still in a safe range. Just adjust the pH if it goes any further.

The tower garden is hydroponic, not aeroponic. The amount of water delivered in a single 3 minute irrigation cycle would be enough to run a genuine aeroponic tower for a whole day :)
@shillswebservices

I have 2 questions, what would you recommend as the best generator that can be used for aeroponic systems, like what would be your go to generator for good performance. And question 2, what would you say can be the longest time a plant in an aeroponic tower can go for without water before the plant starts to dry up if the power goes out.

@proponics
@proponics 7 ай бұрын
Glad you are enjoying the content! Thanks for the like and sub :) So regarding a generator it would totally depend on your setup. Simply put, calculate the total wattage of the appliances in your setup then select a generator with a slightly higher capacity than your systems’ demands to ensure a reliable power supply. As for how long the plants will live without water, again there is no one answer fits all it depends on the type of plants, temperature, size of roots etc. In any case if the water stops running indefinitely your plants will dry out and die. However @PrisonerGlass left a great comment on this video about how to avoid the loss of crop in the event of power failure in low pressure hydroponic systems: "In a self contained low pressure aeroponics system (plants and nutrients contained in the same reservoir), if there is a power failure, so long as there is water in the reservoir, the plants will continue to take in water through the submerged water roots and take in oxygen through the air roots that aren't submerged. It works like a Kratky system and can be maintained easily if there is a power failure. Also, while aeroponics does favor small leafy plants, it's not a problem at all to support larger fruiting plants if a container and media that is appropriate for the size of the plant is used. Anything you can grow in other types of hydroponics (dwc, ebb and flow, NFT) will grow just as well or better in a low pressure aeroponics system. High pressure aeroponics are much more touchy when it comes to power failures, however. I've found low pressure aeroponics systems to be the most forgiving type of hydroponics so long as the roots aren't fully submerged. Even in a DWC system, if your roots are fully submerged and you have a power or air pump failure the plants can start going downhill fast due to a lack of oxygen. I've not found that to be the case in LPA."

I have tried aeroponics, hydroponics, deep water culter, and in soil with organics nutes. The only thing i want to try is notill pots. With aeroponics, i had huge buds in a short amount of time but lacked in flavor. Hydro was about the same but less yield for me. In soil with organic nutes, I've had the best of both worlds. Get nice chunky nugs that pack a punch. With soil, electricity is lights and fans. With hydro or aero, it's a lot more electricity but faster to grow. I tell people to find what is easiest for them to learn and then find what they like best.

Is the use of larger quantities of fertilizers in hydroponics than in regular agriculture, or vice versa?
@proponics
@proponics 8 ай бұрын
Generally speaking the fertiliser or nutrients used in hydroponics are used more efficiently because nutrients can be more precisely controlled and recycled in a hydroponic system. So while plants always require a specific amount of nutrition regardless of where they are planted the hope with hydroponics is that less of the nutrients are wasted or lost and therefore less will be required overall.
