Abbas Milani keeps repeating the lie that the 1979 revolution was for “a democratic Iran”. A brief look at the forces involved in the anti shah coalition that were almost entirely comprised of different factions of marxist and islamist (or both) groups reveals how ridiculous this shameless lie is. People involved in that revolution were fighting for ideological ideals that had nothing to do with democracy. They were ant-west, anti-imperialist and anti free market, internationalist and against the concept of modern nation states

I wouldn't say I'm a big fan of Kpop but it is catchy and I encounter it all the time. This video really got me thinking of the value of pop culture, thank you for making it! Could you include links to the various videos you referenced? I discovered this video as an optional resource in my class. And while I was able to find the videos discussed, it may benefit future viewers and students.

K Content fans show consumption patterns that even Koreans cannot understand. Koreans usually comparing and choose a few contents and we enjoy it for a while and forget it quickly. But overseas K-Content fans love and remember every K Contents. They have long drama / movie lists. They have already memorized every song in the chart, and now they are activating old-fashioned content that has been forgotten. Just because I like the Beatles doesn't mean I like the British food they eat, but K fans do. In the vlog I saw recently, a Polish K fan visited an Austrian friend to tour and ate Korean food, not Austrian food. And in return, an Austrian friend visited Poland and held a party with K food, not Polish food And the two men said in Korean that they appreciate and love each other. In Korean culture, we can say we love each other among same-sex friends. But I guess in commonsense, it's impossible in their culture. Anyway, they understood Korean culture and using Korean words and K-food for communications. a strange but joyful and pleasant phenomenon

Out of 165 votes Korea was 29 against its opponent Riyakh 119, despite the over 500 days to over 100 cities' desperate promotions with the all-out performance of all the popular Korean celebrities including one from the "Octopus Game". Who cares much about those now? Look as if only the Western countries are popping their allies up for wishful popularities. In recent years, there have been over 100 K Drama, and K Variety shows which have been completed and couldn't find any buyers.

I’ve been addicted to KDramas since 2011 - they are the TV shows I mainly watch. I got into them looking for live-action anime from Japan. You know what? I couldn’t FIND JDramas!!!! Not even on Crunchy Roll! As any anime fan who suffered thru the 90s can tell you, Japan is not known to market internationally very well. Korea on the other hand actively promotes its entertainment worldwide. Would have been nice to actually see those videos BTW. I have BTW seen both before.

Although Korean government fostered growth of Korean pop culture in the early 2000’s, the success of Korean entertainment including Kpop is primarily driven by private industry. But I think North Korean pop culture is light years ahead of South Korea. 😂

excellent way to teach students to think about history. it is funny that textbook from different side of the war talk about 1 event in different way. who right? who wrong? i would love to have my kids be student of Ms Mckenna. But her school, Head-Joyce K-12, is not only competitive to get in, but also expensive 40k/year.. .but the quality of education is so worth it.

Despite I am the only one commenting on this video a year after it was posted on youtube, I do think these discussions of biases we may have in our interpretations of history and and how our own country's narratives of the past has come to influence how we perceive history and recognition of that fact is important to in coming as close historical truths as we can. It is sad that this video has only 479 views and interest in this important topic is quite low.

With all due respect to Mr. Milani, the idea of "democracy" or " Republic" -- even "Revolution" -- is a globalist/cosmopolitan/Freemason trick (empty slogans like "fraternity, equality, liberty" to completely change the society from within, for the WORSE = look at what happened to France for 100 years after their revolution = "Les Miserables."). Fast forward to modern times, were the 2020 US elections really something to aspire to? Or just look at the obscene corruption in the US congress. They say that worthless Nancy Pelosi is worth $50-$100 million -- how?! And she's not alone. Or that putz Mitch McConnell or Mitt Romney, all corrupt.
