It's cause there's no reason to boot you back out to the title screen only for you to just immediately load back into the kingdom. Game over screens had a purpose in other Mario games when there were individual levels and stakes of you having to retry that level if you died. But Mario Odyssey doesn't need one because instead of indiviual levels there's full kingdoms to explore. And dying still has stakes of losing a few coins and then having to retry whatever challenge you were doing. But having a game over screen that boots you back to the title screen would just be tedious.

hey i saw you used my mushroom clip, i have an explanation. crossing the invis wall backwards removes the barrier (WorldEndBorderArea). It does exist in 1.0, however you can remove the barrier on 1.3 too. You can just long jump into the wall from behind, then do a CRC to capture the binoculars. on 1.0 you can just nut jump to the painting platform
