Some good footage there Andy, thanks for posting. We were there Sunday which was not quite so crazy busy (a mate told me who did the riding on Saturday and photographed Sunday) I'm not sure how many trips we took! 'Lots'! There seem to be a lot watching, and I hope they contributed in some way one way or another, I dread to think how much this show cost, and being a long-time member and supporter of the SR, I know what the situation is like.

Thanks for watching. We bought a ticket intending to ride some late afternoon trains but didn’t use it as it all went to pot in the afternoon and we didn’t want to get stuck!

Nice video. You want to try and have a northern summer! Preston had 303% of its normal July rainfall! How long where you at Eastleigh this day? You make it look busy but when I go, there are long boring periods of no freight. Any more than 4 per hour is a bonus!! Thanks for the vid 👍🏻

For me extremely interesting. Fine that in Britain so many lines are non-electrified. A pity that so many locos are out of work. Class 66 dominates in picture and sound. Greetings from Gdynia, Poland.

Thank you. The 70 is running from British Steel Redcar to a recycling facility at Longport (recycled into road stone I guess). I saw the same train the day before and it took the Birmingham line.

Great footage huge stock of class 60 at the back of the yard these look like there going for the scrap ? Lots of 66 67 EWS livery I presume these will be repainted to DB colours at some point… GBR Colas use DB yard facilities or sub hired in ? Also spotted Royal train 67 at the very back 👍

I regularly walk round the whole depot and there are some interesting vantage points in your vid that I can't fathom such as 20:22. Are you on the A52 here because the traffic is quite loud.

Hi there. Yes, all views taken from public access land. The views later on are from the Brian Clough Way over bridge. There’s a lay-by on the Derby bound carriageway and you can walk up to the bridge.

@@andyhoward1001 Many thanks, I'd discounted the road so I've been racking my brains as to where for example people take shots similar to this on Flickr and tried walking along a track 90 degrees from the canal towpath where the A52 crosses the canal and battled through undergrowth to try to find a way up the embankment which lead me nowhere lol.

Thanks for sharing this Andy, what a great shot coming round Orpins Curve and that three cylinder beat. I must get out to the KESR in the next couple of weeks and take a trip behind 257 Squadron. They did not seem to being pushing the engine but then with a five coach train there is no need, lots of pent up power.

Very interesting. The sidings get quite busy at times. I would imagine that Banbury is a good location for freight.

Banbury gets just about all the Southampton Docks traffic going through, plus the bonus of the 68s as well. I saw two loaded trains going here at Leamington the next day so, as you say, the Tarmac sidings can get busy. I’m guessing the second train had to wait in the down loop or the station loop until the first one finished unloading so would have been an interesting shot.
