A great ghost story to read is the Ghosts of Sleath by james Herbert, it a follow on from another of his books called Haunted. The ghosts of Sleath is about a small village in the chilton hills going through a mass haunting, for me its the best ghost story ever😊

"Cheesy", you are so right. I've not seen this movie, and I likely never will. I can't say that I've ever been a fan of "Horror-Comedy". The horror is pretty much always lost in the "Cheesy", lets be honest, sometimes, stupid, comedy. When I saw SCREAM the very first time, I was like, "Hey, this is a pretty good horror movie". Then, about the 2/3rd point, it went entirely stupid with the two guys screwing about cutting each other - ruined the movie for me. Always a fan of your videos! This one is cool. :)

I love how similar are taste in books are! I have had most of these books on my TBR and picked up episode 13 at my library this week. I have never heard of Mastsdon but I love creature features 🤩 so I’m adding that to my list!

I picked this book up randomly from a local bookstore when I needed some endorphins to brighten my day 😂 and come to find out, it’s like one of people’s least favorite book of hers haha. I will still read it since I paid for it. Maybe I will like it since it’s the first Coats book!

I don't think I'll ever pick up another one of his books, the only reason why I read this book was because Steven King said it was "terrifying" and because it won the bram stoker award, I don't know why because it's not a horror book

I know it's a common opinion, and I'm sure your edition's critical notes agree with it, but I don't agree that this book was ahead of its time. It was very much of its time -- so much so that modern readers do not understand it. It was written before sexologists of the late 19th century sought to replace traditional morality with a new secular theory about a "mental illness" called "homosexuality", and which in turn ultimately led to the sort of homophobia that peaked in the 1950s, which in turn led to today's backlash. But Le Fanu died so long ago (1873) that he stands entirely outside this storm. The story is about 2 girls from the 1850s who are affectionate but platonic friends, and who are not embarrassed to be huggy-kissy towards each other, because (unlike moderns, but like Le Fanu himself) they have never heard of lesbians. That, at least, is the surface situation. Unfortunately, for one of the girls, this is just a mask. Her affectionate friendship is feigned, and what she really is a hungry predator, who, like an "epicure", likes to savor her food. Sensual? Yes. Sexual? No. Laura is perfectly happy with Carmilla as a normal huggy-kissy Victorian girlfriend. She gets weirded out, however, when the mask starts to slip, and Carmilla starts slavering over her intended meal, like the hungry predator she actually is. This was written as a mystery story, and the solution to the mystery is "she's a vampire". That also explains the nature of her mysterious "passion". She's a hungry monster, and she wants to devour Laura. That's it.
