Some things that Pioneer Plx1000 users should pay attention to: 1. Vta's 0 point. 19mm height cardridge 4mm slipmat is the original data. In other words, 6 or 5 millim slipmat is required for the use of 17.3 or 18 height cartridges. This is important for fineline, microline, shibata profile cartridges. 2. If you use Funkfirm or stock technics slip mat in this upgrade, the sound quality is higher than the 4mm original. 3. Pioneer plx 1000 does not ground itself from the inside, this is a habit I do not like. 4. The overhang is 54mm. When you take care of these things, you will notice that when you bring a technics sl1200gr2 home, you will notice that it disappears next to the technics and send the technics back home. Enjoy listening

This is a superOEM made by Hanpin. My two Reloop 7000 mk2s are also made by Hanpin and feature the same direct-drive motor as your Pioneer PLX-1000. One advantage of the Reloops is the adjustable torque, for both start and stop, although this feature probably won’t be so useful except for deejays. I was a disco deejay in the late 1970s and through much of the ‘80s and I had Technics 1200 mk2s back then, and I can tell you that setting both the start and stop torque as low as possible on the Reloops will feel 100% natural to anyone who has worked with the Tech12s. Putting the start torque to it’s highest setting allows you to back-cue vinyl so tightly that start-up of a record is about as fast as the start-up of any digital file on a pc. One thing I urge people to do if they’re considering ANY direct-drive turntable is to look closely at the bottom of the platter. It’s good if it has rubber padding, and it’s EXCELLENT if the magnets are not tightly wound round the center. In mechanical terms, the platter is the direct-drive motor’s flywheel. If the magnets that connect the flywheel are very tight around the center, it’s harder for the motor to control the movement of the relatively large platter. However, if the diameter of the magnet ring is larger, about a couple inches, then you’ve probably got a higher quality motor, and that will usually mean better hifi performance.

Amazon and Sweetwater have this on sale at $599 for the moment. I ordered it from Amazon and it will arrive next week. I'm a bit of collector when it comes to hi-fi. I currently have four other turntables which includes a Technics SL 1200 MK7 that I spent around $1200 for. For half the price the Pioneer PLX 1000 appears to be superior in quality to the Technics. I'll be able to judge for myself next week. Coincidently I'll be installing the Nagaoka MP- 110 cartridge that I had as a backup to my MK7.

I just got one of these 10-14-23 off Amazon on sale for $700 and am shocked by how good it is. It reeks of quality and my expensive audiophile records have never sounded better. I was using a an AT120, and a vintage dual, and this is a HUGE upgrade. I also have a Fluance 41 and the tonearm and cue lever on the PLX1000 is much better. As others have said, the head shell and tonearm wiring uses a small gauge but I cannot detect any sound degradation. I doubt that upgrading to a heavier gauge would result in any improvement. The only thing you can really "hear" from the table is the cartridge/stylus.

Price aside between Pioneer PLX-1000 vs Technics SL-1200GR I would take the Pioneer. That says a lot of the quality and redesign that has gone into the Pioneer.

It’s a garbage turntable extremely cheaply made poor sound quality, u are clearly talking mince. Try 1210mk5s or reloops 7000mk2s or 1210mk7 or even 1210’mk2 as these are amongst the worst sounding and worst built turntables on the market fact

Funny, my $49 Crosley 'Cruiser Deluxe' arm can be 'flicked' released and the arm lowers slowly... that to me is amazing. Though, the Crosley is NOT a high-end turntable; not by a long shot... it is a child's/kid's turntable. So, if a low budget turntable; say, $200 or more does not have this feature, that's a bloody shame.

Ive got the plx 1000’s and the technics mk7’s and this is my personal view on them. Pioneer plx 1000 - high torque and great turntable for scratching. Technics 1210 mk 7 - better for mixing and blending as pitch fader is better dialled in.
@paulboyce8537
@paulboyce8537 10 ай бұрын
I've read few DJ's reviews about the pitch and my conclusion is that yes it is different but not worse than the other. Just needs to get the brain in sync. When you get use to something the change is always difficult. For example if you would stopped using the Technics for 6 months and then go back to it it would feel totally weird and you would have to learn it again.

Need to replace my Pro-Ject RPM 5.1 SE which I'm about to sell and want to go direct drive. At the moment the AT LP140 is not found anywhere and nobody knows when it will be available again. So there are the Pioneer PLX 1000 and the Technics SL1200 MK7. Is the Technics worth 200 bucks more than the Pioneer? Any difference in construction quality? The Technics is assembled in Malaysia, but where do they produce the Pioneer?

I have the plx1000s and I also have Mk3s and Mk2s...these tables hold there own...mix perfectly with my Vinyl collection...quality decks ...if your not a Dj and you can't mix than you will find negative things on these decks.. you can beat match with analog mixers like urie ,bozak, condensa Rotary mixers ..even if the pitch fader is not analog ...its the skills not the decks...Plx1000s are really good and the reloop 7000s are the same...

Plenty of DJ's have reviewed the PLX 1000 and all say these are great if not better than the old. Pioneer is a modern and improved take of the old so in my opinion these are made to feel similar and improved at the same time. Motor, tonearm, pitch, insulation and sound all better with lot more simple design if you do a teardown. No gimmicks.

I have a PLX-1000 and got it last July to celebrate my 50th birthday. I must say it is a gorgeous turntable and built like a tank. I have always wanted a Technics 1200 since the early 90's, but when they returned to production they overpriced their new products. Their lowest tier turntable the MK7 (priced at $1299 when they first came out and now $999) is not worth the price tag. I have no regrets getting the PLX-1000, it is a fantastic turntable.

Try the Denon VL12. Well made ... designed from the ground up including the tonearm and not a hodgepodge of parts regenerated from the same Hanpin manufacturer as Pioneer, AT and the rest. A sonic bargain at it's price and even the arm clip works better! Competes with much higher priced Technics and outperforms the Pioneer in terms of transparency and dynamics. . Can't go wrong with the Nagaoka's either .. great compliment to your sound.

Had this turntable for 12 months now and I absolutely love it. The quality of sound that this produces is stunning! I run it with a Goldring 2100 moving iron cartridge and vintage musical fidelity XLPS phono amp. The sound is so rich clear and detailed and has a fullness which will just make you keep reaching for another album. At this price I doubt you will find a better bit of kit, I looked widely before buying and I absolutely know I made the right choice. I intend keeping it for many years and with the level of build quality on this thing it will last the distance!!

This is only the third turntable I have owned in my life the first was a JVC QL 7 I sold that many many years ago and for very little money. I later bought a lovingly restored Thorens TD 160 my 2, it had been lovingly restored and placed into a granite plinth. I very quickly discovered that I didn’t like the sound of it and as a result found myself listening less. I remembered the JVC sounded fuller and more engaging and enjoyable. I usually place listening above anything and regret not doing that with the Thorens. I took the PLX 1000 from my dealer on a 14 day home trial, installed my new Goldring 2100 and WOW!!!!!! The next day I called my dealer to say there was no way he was getting this back!! Love it and will not be changing this turntable I love it
