Jesus Christ the whole segment on Diamond is Unbreakable was painful to watch. It’s pretty clear that you didn’t understand the point of a lot of plot points. The point of the plot with Okuyasu’s dad wasn’t to find someone to fix him, it was that Keicho wanted to find someone to kill him and Okuyasu could have easily, but he didn’t want to give his younger brother the heartache of having to kill his brother, it’s meant to make you sympathise with Keicho and make you hate Akira Otoishi more. The point of the plot with Shizuka Joestar (Achtung Baby’s user) wasn’t to find her mother, it was to show Joseph’s growth as a person with him taking responsibility and raising a child instead of abandoning him like Josuke. And the part about the man who saved Josuke is literally just you making shit up. There was never any sign that it was a time travel plot, Araki never said that it was going to be a time travel plot at any point in the making of part 4, and you also act like pompadours weren’t a real hairstyle that were popular in the 80s, especially among Yankii, a delinquent subculture that the person who saved Josuke belonged to. Seriously, what the hell were you writing with that part of the video?

It was so interesting. I started watching the series in Japanese without subtitles in season 2 and I had absolutely no issues following the story…. Until I got to Josuke’s storyline. By the third episode I realized I had to put the subtitles back on. The story was so much more complex and though I could still follow the basic plot I was missing so many details in the stand battles. This is a great demonstration of the increase in writing and story complexity

Agreed, its a massive retcon in my opinion. they established a powerful stand that can counter everything in part 5, but somehow giorno doesnt even aware when time accelerated universally. then a characters from previous part became more stupid in later part, ex: jotaro who's formidable and can beat someone with just sheer pressure reduced to mid npc

I’ve seen Araki get criticized a lot for leaving certain plot threads open. But I’ve never felt this. I think it’s great world building to have an area of interest introduced only to never see it followed up upon. They are a red herring that leave the audience guessing, wondering what is the real point of focus for the story. It happens in real life all the time (obviously in a far less dramatic fashion) and it lets us know there are things going on outside the main story that broaden the scope of the world. Back when I wanted to be a writer and would create my own (terrible) stories I’d always try and introduce threads like these that weee random and interesting but something that wasn’t fully relevant to the main story. Good for Araki for being brave enough to write in this fashion. Also, with the manner in which manga is written, on the fly without the ability to go back and change things, it gives the author options where he can use these threads to tie back into the plot. They’re like fail safe devices. And I’m glad he uses them.

I liked the video but i feel like he didnt explain the flaws of part 5 enough. Even though I feel it has more interesting one-off villains, the main villain and the entire plot are a downgrade from part 4, as the small plot points dont really go anywhere and the climax is very disappointing compared to any of the previous parts. Part 6 did better on that though, so I think 5 is the only one I felt wasnt good in general. The main character also seems to have even less personality than any other Jojo

That guy who helped Josuke wasn't Josuke and never meant to be, can't be surprised ig with One Piece fans being really stupid. After all they love a series where it's nothing but flashbacks and backstories instead of actually showing and developing it's characters lmfao. Also Pucci not that great ? no way is a One Piece fan trying to comment on other series villains where most OP villains are just evil pirates or marines.

This video was recommended to me before I watched Jojos. A friend and I are currently half way through part 5 of the anime adaptation. I’ve been really enjoying it so far. Every part has been very entertaining. But I feel the opposite of the sentiments expressed in the title. It feels like the writing quality declined with every part. Obviously he had to make each part more bizarre to top himself, but the more bizarre it becomes, the less sense it makes. Part 1: Basic character development and plot events are exaggerated but generally make sense. Part 2: Good character development and events can definitely stretch suspension of disbelief with their ridiculousness, but there is still at least some form of coherent reasoning in place. 1st half of Part 3: Basically no character development (literally none of the characters change), but events are actually pretty cleverly written like Part 2. 2nd half of Part 3: Still little to no change in any character, and the plot’s coherency of reasoning gradually deteriorates until you hit the end where the protagonist just decides to have a new power at the end of the fight and insta-kills the villain. Like the truth is that there is no way they could’ve beaten Dio with everything that had been established. So, it kinda felt like the writer just gave up and said, “Screw it, the good guy wins. The end.” Although, I think the ladder half of part 3 definitely had its moments. But from there on out, it’s basically been the same as the end of Part 3… pretty much no character development: characters stay the same as they were at the beginning. Events are generally coherent until they become so extreme that it would be impossible for the protagonists to keep going, so the writing makes up some new element and just injects it with no set up. By the time you get to part 5, I can’t even tell you how many times characters are like, “Ha! You thought I was in danger but I’m actually not because I used this completely new aspect of my power that never existed before or my power has gotten upgraded in some way for no reason.” Also, “Oh no, I’m fatally wounded and dying! I’m actually dead now! Except I’m not dead anymore because of reasons that were just made up right now.” That happens a lot too. It’s been a really fun watch. I enjoy it a lot. But I’d hardly consider it well written. Part 2 is the peak for the writing quality and character development imo.
@user-ed4zn3cl8d19 күн бұрын
Battle Tendency is the worst part in terms of writing. Joseph in the part 2 is like from Gary Stu's textbook. Every fight is shit happening but Joseph retroactively explaining how it actually didn’t happen by pulling shit out of his ass. Joseph, who immediately after Caesar's death went looking for LisaLisa's panties right in the next scene. Caesar is a worst Jobro. But this is not his fault, but the main problem of the whole 2 parts is that Joseph is the center of the world and therefore the only one who is worthy to achieve and really do at least something. All positive secondary characters in part 2 exist in order to show what Joseph is smart, cool, resourceful, etc. If you want to see the real Joseph, for the sake of whose coolness all the characters around him are not sacrificed, welcome to part 3. Part 2 is precisely popular among people who are generally incapable of analyzing what they watch and do not know what good writing is.
@seangdovic496719 күн бұрын
@@user-ed4zn3cl8d As I said, from part 3 onward there is no character development (the characters literally don’t change) and the plots rely more and more on contrivance, convenience, and sometimes downright plot holes or things just not being set up or making any kind of sense. I wouldn’t say part 2, is flawless. Far from it. It’s got a lot of bizarre jojo quirks too. But imo it’s the best at balancing the bizarreness with actually consistent plot/character development. You talk about part 2 being favored by people who don’t know what good writing is… but from the halfway point of part 3 onward, you literally have to turn your brain off and not think about how little sense anything actually makes. I don’t mind that. I actually just finished part 5. I really enjoyed it. It’s all good fun. But it literally just ends with Giorno powering up and saying, “Nah, I win.” Then he just wins… there’s not any reason previously established why golden wind requiem would negate king crimson’s time stopping powers… it just does… don’t think about it. If that’s good writing, then we’ll have to agree to disagree.
@seangdovic496719 күн бұрын
@@user-ed4zn3cl8d And don’t even get me started on how Bucciarati just didn’t die because of Giorno’s ability… like what? Why the hell doesn’t he use that same ability on other people who have died to keep them around longer? This is called, “turn your brain off and don’t think about it” style storytelling. The writing quality pales in comparison to manga/anime like Beserk, Vinland Saga, or AoT. Which I don’t mind. I enjoyed the series a lot regardless. I really liked all of the parts so far.
