The brand is not as important as the type of oil and grease. Use "reel oil" and "reel grease". I have used Penn reel grease, Lucas reel oil, quantum reel oil. I even used sewing machine oil and grease in a pinch, which is higher quality and more expensive. Avoid oil like WD-40 and 3 in One. Those will evaporate and leave sticky residue. I clean parts with WD-40 but wipe it clean and add qualify oil and grease.

Picked up a 33 Silver anniversary today at goodwill for 1.99! On the front once the cover is off there is a gasket or O ring that is on the part the moves when the main button is pushed that looks like it seals off the front? Sorry I don't know the names of these parts,it's loose..is there a way to fix this? Not took the real completely apart yet..check thrift stores! THANK YOU FOR THE CHANNEL!
@OutFishing13Matthew7 күн бұрын
That "o-ring" is called the Line Brake and is part of the Spinner Cone. The line brake pinches the line against the front cone so you can cast the line. If that line brake is worn out, then you will need to fix it, since getting replacement parts is impossible. See my video on fixing it. Come join one of the Facebook Zebco groups. Zebco Collectors or Zebco Shop and Swap.

Where can I find spinner head springs for 33, 22 reels
@OutFishing13Matthew12 күн бұрын
Those parts are not sold on their own. I have never had to look for just the springs. It may be possible to retrofit stainless springs, so you may want to look on Amazon. Otherwise, join the Facebook group, Zebco Shop and Swap and make a post.

Is there a way to tell what year these were made? I have the exact same one.
@OutFishing13Matthew13 күн бұрын
The facebook group Zebco Collectors has an archive of catalogs to look up reels. Often you can identify it by the sticker design on the reel. I think these were made in the 1980s.

@OutFishing13Matthew16 күн бұрын
Are you talking about the front cover? It has a couple little notches in the front of the reel and the cover has little locking nubs. Fit those together and slightly twist.
@emach0716 күн бұрын
@@OutFishing13Matthew Thanks for your reply. Well, I finally got it on and I saw all the little nubs and tried every position possible or at least I thought. Finally, I had it lined up just a certain way I guess (after I don't know how many minutes) and it went right on. I remember having this issue a couple of years ago with this thing. I really like this light and small size reel other than that issue. I mostly use spinning reels but my disabled (adult) kids have a hard time with those so this is my go-to. Thanks again 🙂

I use the Big cat XT almost the exact same reel as the 888 for bowfishing it’s super hard on the anti-reverse and destroys them. Anyone know of an upgrade or better system to eliminate what zebco uses for the anti-reverse but still not lock and not back reel. It would be greatly appreciated.
@OutFishing13Matthew7 күн бұрын
The 800 models have two types of ARs. The one I show here that is a continuous AR and built into the handle shaft. The other kind is on the 808 and uses an AR actuator and gear-like notches in the handle shaft. I wonder what is going on when bowfishing and why it is so hard on the AR.
@daltonbbf7567 күн бұрын
@@OutFishing13Matthew the big cat XT had the same AR as shown in your video above. As far as bowfishing being hard on it I think it’s the arrows being stuck in the bottom and the continuing moment of the boat pulling out drag. I’m trying to set the drags lighter so it isn’t so hard on the reel but you need a fair amount to also be able to pull fish in so I think it’s a fine line between to much drag beats the AR till it just can’t take it anymore.

i have this reel. when I put it away I place the hook in one of the guides and tighten up the line but it wont stay tight. why is that?

How would the omega pro do on walleye fishing on lake erie?
@OutFishing13Matthew22 күн бұрын
It depends on how you fish and what pound test you like to use. If you are trolling, then I am not sure it would be the reel you want. If you are casting cranks and/or jigging It would be great. If you get the new 2022 Omega Pro, you can use 30 pound braid on it. Otherwise, 10 pound mono would be great. It is a nice reel that is very durable. Have fun. I sure would love to fish the great lakes for walleye.
@donaldplatfoot120322 күн бұрын
@OutFishing13Matthew I usually cast and jig for walleye. I'd like to use braided line. But the 33s I have dont cast well with it. So I was looking into an Omega or a Bullet. Not sure which would be the better fit.

The 888 does not have the bait alert option. So if you want a bait alert, upgrade the 808. If not, you are right. Just spring for the 888.
