I would have liked to be able to learn how to set the nightlight to switch on and off as specific times as our hallway is dark and light remains all all the time.

If I would have know that your 2nd generation Home Alarm base station siren didn't have a SETTING FOR VOLUME AND DURATION I wouldn't have got it recently. As its VERY LOUD. Also I had to buy the outside Siren separately. !!! An Alarm system is not much good without one btw This does have a setting thank god but I've yet to install it at the moment.
