When I was learning how to play drums and hoping to be in a working band you had to know three things first of all wipe out then you had to know how to play Born to be wild and then if you were really good and the band considered you you was also be expected to be able to play the first half of Ron bushy solo on In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida it was hard to do but I finally did make it and I did get into some bands and I played on the west coast for almost 54 years I enjoyed it thank you Doug for this tune and Mr bushy for one hell of a drum solo be safe be peaceful rest in peace Doug

I was a big fan of the Iron Butterfly from 1967 onwards. I love their first album, "Heavy" released in 1967 with awesome cover art. One of the greatest Progressive Rock bands of the late 1960s, usually labeled as Psychedelic Rock.

Fall 1968 when the top 40 was loaded with psychedelic numbers and of course "In A Gadda Da Vida" was right in there with it. We needed to get Vietnam and politics off our minds so we had music to turn too. Radio stations often played the full version at night. Great music during an awful year.

Damn, that's a loss. Doug and IB were psychedelic mainstays of early FM. And the offshoot were Mike Pinera and Lee Dorman, with their band that also featured Rod Evans and their drummer, whose name I can't remember...I believe he wrote most of Celestial Warrior. Great Musicians all.

Pretty sure the rest of the "Original" Iron Butterfly are still alive. He was the last of the "Classic" most well known lineup which lasted from 1967 to 1969.

He has moved on, never looked back, dusted himself off and just kept on going.At the Cannes Film Festival he certainly was the most handsome best dressed man there.Along with him were 5 of his children and mostly the female actresses and a few actors.Their performance was remarkable and one to always be remembered . He represents a true gentleman with a tender heart .The world loves this man.🌏
