Wow!! This is way more complicated than I thought. Your explanation was great though. Hmmm... just wanted to grade all the new Space Ghost variant covers, There is Something Killing the Children issues 1-20 and issue 35 of The Maxx. But seems like a lot of work and I have to sign up for something? Idk... thank gou for the walk through though.

Hey! If they are modern and under $400 in CGC 9.8 (check ebay sold listings), just put $400 (max) as it costs you nothing more.. If they are older, just do your best with the same method. If you didn't put enough value, don't worry CGC will just upcharge you. One drawback is you're only insured to the price YOU set.

Do I open the sleeve and take it out? Is it worth getting graded? I have a few comics that have never been laid a finger directly on the comic on outside of maybe during the original printing press.
@NoCoastComics
@NoCoastComics Жыл бұрын
Hey Ethan, thanks for watching👍 It's hard to say - most comics in a bag and board are not technically an "original protective sleeve" as some assume, however some in the 90s did come in a polybag. I'd recommend searching ebay sold listings for the books in question to get an idea of value. Add "cgc 9.8" to see the hypothetical high end of what they might bring. If it's more for sentimental value, then of course that doesn't really matter as much. All the best!

Hey Chris, as for the new slabs, you can choose the reholder service on the form. It's very slightly cheaper than sending in for regular grading. www.cgccomics.com/submit/services-fees/cgc-grading/ On international, I don't have any experience with this but I believe CGC has offices in Europe. I'll need to do some more research on that though. Thanks for watching !

I hear you, Scott. Fortunately, with the $149 tier you get $150 in grading credit - so it is effectively free as long as you send in at least $150 worth of grading yearly to use that credit! That's why I call that tier a "no brainer" for most slab collectors. I need to update this video soon now that some changes have been put in place. Thanks for watching!

Love the tips!! Question: I tried looking up comics to be graded and all, some I cannot find: example: the first appearance of Deadpool signed by Rob and Fabian at NYCC. So, should I send that even if I can't find it online or wait for another convention?
@NoCoastComics

Signed comics are tricky. Since the signature was not witnessed by CGC you would get a green Qualified label. There should be an official cgc video about the different label types, but I can make one soon as well. I personally would not send a book like that in, but there are pros and cons.

For the comic, you can look into sending to CBCS if you really want it "certified", as they offered a different type of verified signature program, but I've never used it. In order to get a CGC yellow signature series label, they HAVE to witness the signature. I unfortunately don't have experience with card signatures like that. Hope that helps

What if you think your book could be over 3000 in value but aren't sure. The max value on express is 3000 and I have an FF 48 that is in pretty solid condition I feel like it could fall somewhere between a 6.0 and an 8.0 which would vary in price from 2500 to 5700 or so according to comiccollect (which I know isn't 100 percent accurate) not sure how to do that if I actually decide to send it in. Certainly like to have it slabbed tho. Never had anything slabbed tho I've bought slabs.
@NoCoastComics
@NoCoastComics Жыл бұрын
If you'd be happy with a $3,000 insurance payout if something happened, you could shoot for express. If CGC determines its worth more and bumps it to Walk-through, they will charge you an additional amount as an adjustment. BUT if you submit Walk-through and it's worth under $3k (express tier worthy) they won't bump it down. Sounds like a very nice book! I only have a 4.0 ff 48

@NoCoastComics
@NoCoastComics Жыл бұрын
Hey Jordan, thanks for watching. I need to make a new version of this video but most of still relevant. As for the questions: 1. CGC will automatically use any credit you have when they recieve the books and verify them in system. Then it goes to billing. They do this to ensure you're charged correctly, and that they've revieved the books first. At that time they'll use your credit. You can always write a note on the packing slip for billing to use your account credit first, but it's done by default. 2. There's a checkbox in your account management to either auto renew or not. You save like $20 a year still I think on the middle tier if you auto renew. 👍

@NoCoastComics
@NoCoastComics Жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, thanks for watching, and best of luck with your upcoming CGC submission! Do your best to estimate a grade of similar sold CGC listings (ebay sold listings are helpful). Remember, however, that CGC will never move books down into a lower cost tier, but they do and WILL bump books UP into higher value tiers and charge you more, accordingly. When in doubt, you could choose to select a lower value tier. However, also keep in mind that the book will only be protected/insured up to the amount you enter under the value. Hopefully that helps shed some additional light into the process. I totally understand the daunting complexity of it all, especially when starting out assigning grades to books.
