God blessed me yesterday with sighting in my crossbow. I have been avoiding it strangely with a new scope, broken right foot, just really avoiding “ potential problems” even though it needs to be dealt with. I’m sort of OCD so minor stuff that isn’t perfect can trigger my brain. I hate the triggers though so I avoid a lot. But yes I got out and took a Burris Oracle X and Centerpoint Amped 425, burris just software updated. Put them on the bench rest and got it dialed in “almost” perfectly. No issues or struggles or roadblocks. After that smooth session found myself looking for little things to get worked up about. Crazy stuff. I’m very thankful today … prayed about it. Bottom line is I’m absolutely ready to hunt today from a gear perspective. Thanks for sharing these videos. God is good to us all the time! Amen! Appreciate you!

I have a few comments/questions for the questions asked. The first is about the Corvette. Which is easier and faster to stop, a Corvette travelling at 70mph or an 18 wheeler at 55mph? The second is about penetration. Would you want to shoot an elk at 300yds, with a faster, let's say 100gr .243 travelling at about 3100fps or a 30-06 with a little slower and heavier 168gr bullet at 2900fps? The last comment is about the deer not going very far after being shot with a razor sharp fixed blade. From what I remember reading a long time ago, when the deer was hit with a razor sharp broadhead, it was thought that it basically felt like being poked with a needle and the deer didn't actually know they were shot. Now, if you hit one with a less than razor sharp and even larger broadhead, the deer will definitely know they have been hit and run farther if they can, depending on what the broadhead hits. Edit: the bullet velocities mentioned above, are at the barrel, just to make that clear.

My friends think I am nuts shooting 920 grains for whitetail, but it is I who is consistently breaking shoulders and pinwheeling them in place, and it is I who they call to help track their deer the next day. The Tuffhead dangerous game 400 grain both single bevel. The balance point of the 29 inch arrow is 4.5 inches from the back of the head. And I shoot through the new 3D target

Great video Matt. Only complaint I have is that the video was not released a week sooner. I had just purchased a dozen .003 shafts at the cost of around $70. No where near the price point of these. The bolt you broke down was the insert fairly easy to remove? What is the inner diameter of these shafts? Thanks for another helpful review!

Insert wasn’t bad to get out, no different than other arrows. Standard ID/OD for crossbows.

Nice video. I try to watch Troy every now and then but I feel like he is missing a few things. The broad head as well as the fletching can not create lift. They produce drag. Another issue I take is Troy him self has said he a producer not a consumer of content then discredits other archers by stating no one else discusses different topics. I think he makes valid points I think you two did an amazing job with the data. I’m not discrediting the conversation I would like to see as much emphasis on the tune and set of the kinetic energy machine as well as shooting fundamentals. I shoot 73 pounds 31 inch draw I push a 443gr arrow set up with a 50gr insert and 100gr iron will single bevel. I live in south Mississippi and that combo works great for pigs and works great for elk and bear in Idaho. This is the first video I’ve seen on your channel I’m now following I think it was nicely done. I just don’t chase the weight or speed numbers I find what I can shoot the best and hold out for ethical shots are what make the biggest difference. Do you know if Troy took up fmjj offer on the bow tuning video?

good information that a crossbow hunter can use in a practical way! i wasn't all that happy with my grouping at 40 yd plus last summer when i bought my new rival x and used my normal ki setup..... 300 gr arrow with 100 gr mechanical, coming to around a 420 gr arrow complete with chinese lighted nock. had very respectable 60 yd groups with my preceding ki bow and all my xbows befoe these two ki rigs. on a hunch, i took one of the ki hyperlites which i had never used before due to being too light, imho. screwed in an old leftover rusted 147gr traditional fieldpoint and never looked back. shrunk my 60 yd groups back down to about a rested 2 to 3 inches, which was what i had been used to for years now. 150 gr mechanicals are not that easy to find, but ki started marketing theirs last summer and they went to the woods with me and the rival x. the extra 50 gr up front didn't hurt my chrono's feelings much.....maybe high 380's to 390 and pretty quiet too for that speed! sorry for being longwinded but that was my experience late last summer. i don't like hunting without confidence in my equipment, especially in my old age!!!!! your video brought back fond memories of a bow setup i don't have to worry on these coming weeks.....unless it blows up on me while checking my zero in a few weeks!!!!!

Just purchased an X1 after watching your videos. I made your recommended changes to the Hypr bolts as well as fletching up some Zombie Slayers I had. Both sets are within a couple grains of 350 without heads. The bow is accurate (sub 1" groups at 40 yds) so far), but I'm only getting speeds of just over 300 fps using 125 grain field points if the scope speed is to be believed. Plenty fast enough to kill a deer, but way off of the speeds you saw. Any thoughts on speeding it up or don't worry about it?

Good looking crossbow. I’m seriously thibking about the Swat X1. Question, have you ever had limb problems with the X1?
@draggindeeroutdoors6 күн бұрын
I had a very slight delay on my first set of limbs. This was when the bow was into its 2nd season. And when I mean slight…I continued hunting with throughout the season. Once season was over, I had the limbs replaced. All is well @ year 4! Hands down my favorite xbow.

None of these damn xguns belong in archery season. The only reason they are is because of crooked politicians buying into crossbow companies. It is insider trading at its finest. If you are able bodied and don't have the time to learn to shoot a vertical bow, tough. You are not entitled to the special archery season. They are 50 yards guns. Able bodied grown men singing their virtues is sickening. My 12 year old daughter was proficient enough to hunt with our crossbow within an hour of the first time she fired it. We have a crossgun for the kids and as a backup for 76 year old father that has had two rotator cuff surgeries. He hasn't shot the xgun since his shoulders healed. He does everything he can not completely cross over to the dark side.
