I just loved your video, showing what goes on behind the camera. Real life is not short of drama. Would love to attend the online school.

Welcome back, and congratulations on your much deserved promotion, Jaeger, Sensei! Okinawa is such a spiritual cleansing experience! Anyway, I had to laugh, as just as I thought of a question about the mawashi block and it being applied during, or after the half circle step, and then you immediately supplied the answer! It would seem that you consequently got "powered up" within your trip/promotion😅. As for your comment regarding " beginner karate" (and when or when not to apply it)- should I assume that the answer would remain "DWYSS" as to when to know when to start making that training "shift", from beginner to.....? Thank you for all the generous content, and my best to you both, Sensei!

I haven't been is a class for many moons. Is this a class intended for anyone? I am 3rd dan black belt in Chungdokwon TKD, Shotokan and learned an American style Goju Ryu and did not start IMA until I became an adult. I'm enjoying studying traditional GojuRyu. Please let me know when it actually starts as the timing may go well with my work schedule. I am working in Istanbul and pretty much train on my own. I enjoy your classes as a member.

This is the correct interpretation of Krav Maga principles - keep attacking until the threat is gone. I was in the IDF during the 1st Intifada, trained true KM at Wingate with the commando units. Most commercial KM is not real KM. KM is based on the most effective techniques or movements from many martial arts. I've also practiced/taught Goju Ryu, etc. since 1970 and when understood, all of the same principles and techniques are there in the kata. Any technique involving more than 2 steps is not KM, nor is it Goju Ryu/SD. Well done.

I think that you are a Karate Genius! Your videos never fail but to thrill inspire and delight me! And I am so VERY impressed with your imaginative and constructive teaching style! This one was an especial pleasure to watch! And of course Sir, I am sure that a Great Man like yourself had already appreciated this; if you substitute a Kama for the Chishi in your enchanting Kata you have a perfect Kobudo Kata for cqb and ecq combat! Wonderful! Kata makes everything perfect at so many levels. As do your entirely fascinating videos!

Thank you for this video and the little explanation on the story of the two sanchins and why Miyagi sensei created sanchin dai ichi. It was a small point that wasn't clear to me between "Chojun Miyagi no sanchin" (dai ichi) and "Kanryo Higaonna no sanchin" (dai ni). I knew dai ni was historically first, but not the reason dai ichi appeared next.

My thought after practicing Seido Karate, Aikido/jujitso and now Tai chi and Wing Chun, I move off line (in this case to attackers right) and use the same technique. Not as much worry about the my hand strike and can control the body w the head during the defensive strike. Just a thought. Osu.

Just for interest sake again …..why does the attacker leave his hand there instead of pulling it back? In every fight/sparring I’ve been in or seen I’ve never once seen someone step in punch and leave there arm extended for you to do a 30sec counter . In a real fight the aggressor throws a flurry of combinations and this what is shown here sir trust me will not work . I did 8 years of karate and in the real world it didn’t work . I did 6 months of boxing and the difference was night and day . This will not work in the street . You know it won’t work I dont know why you teaching it . And another thing . Nobody steps in with a straight punch to the lower abdomen. Straight off the cuff in a fight an aggressor is going for the face . If you want to test your karate and get the truth then either go to a boxing club or mma club and ask if you can join for a week to check it out . The reality of fighting will come down hard on you and I mean this with respect to you sir .

My relationship to these techniques are rather complicated. Back in the early 90's when I started training Goju Ryu my sensei got hooked on full contact fighting an we mostly just went "Cobra Kai" on each others. We did do a lot of sanchin kata and strength exercises but never any bunkai. I left after 3 years and didn't look back until a year ago when I momentarily started training in another dojo under some of my sensei's old students. All of a sudden I was introduced to tensho kata and more importantly bunkai. I've spent the last 30 odd years feeling karate was just pummeling one another until you bled! It's been quite a journey.
