Over 40 here! I've noticed the lack of representation and planning on starting a YT channel. The other big thing is that I feel like this would be a great way to make friends too, hopefully! Also weird, I'm also a web dev and getting bored of it too 😅

Between you and me, making friends is one of the main reason I became a creator. And yes, web developing became very boring and honestly I felt like I couldn't keep up. 😮‍💨 Happy to hear you're starting your journey. Don't overthink it and just start. It will be the best thing ever!

Great review! My only issue with it so far has been that I still haven't gotten it to match the quality and "crispness" of videos taken on my pixel 7 pro. Whether using normal or D-Log and then color grading, the colors are always very dull. Otherwise, it would completely replace my phone
@itsbyrobin
@itsbyrobin 3 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and your nice words! When it comes to 'crispness' it's hard to define what exactly you mean, but sharpness and color can be dialed up. The sensor of the Pocket 3 *should* capture a significant amount of more data (in video) than the Pixel 7, buuuut the AI in the Google phones definitely does some crazy trickery that depending on the situation, the Pocket 3 may not be able to match!

@@jeffersontagle9949 All depends on preference....I had X3 already since 6 months so didn't feel to upgrade to X4 instead I went with pocket 3 just bcz of low light capability. If it's your first time purchase , see what's your most of the time shoot? You got enough day time for shoot & have more action in your life...go for X4 it's a killer one.. If your 50% or more shoot is in low lights after office with very less action, go for Pocket 3.... Later on once you get some views & earning...buy the other one to make it a complete package..
@itsbyrobin
@itsbyrobin 3 ай бұрын
@@jeffersontagle9949 Hi there! This is easy :) Pocket 3 is the default choice for everyone, which is why it is so popular. The X3/X4 only make sense if: - You DO really need the 360 degree video - You DO want a waterproof/more rugged device - You DO NOT care about low light performance Between the X3 and X4, the latter is a significant upgrade over the X3, but the best choice depends on your budget. If you have the money, X4, otherwise the X3 will also be good. For most scenarios, the Pocket 3 will be better.

Not all life experiences are created equal. If your stories are not particularly interesting (and this goes for most people, unfortunately) you might find being a storyteller harder than you think. Also, the chance the topic you're passionate about won't get many clicks, is something that needs to be taken into consideration too. Whether you've just began your 40's or you've been there for a while the only thing you can count on is you're now too old to be considered young and too young to be considered old.

Hey Op-Ed! First of all, thank you so much for watching and taking the time to write your comment. Here's my take on this: I'm not going to pretend that there are not people that are naturally better storytellers, or that some life's are subjectively more interesting than others. BUT... the keyword is is subjectively! For example: I'm not into woodworking or DIY, so somebody that is has tons of life experience in refurbishing old furniture or building cabinets may not be as interesting TO ME as somebody that has spent a decade working for Apple (I'm a tech guy) or someone that is traveling the world non-stop (I love traveling). I promise you that in whatever way you may have lived your life, there are tons of things that you have learned that are valuable to others. And these, most certainly come with stories (why did you learn something? what did you learn? how did it change your life? how did you connect it to other things years later?). Have faith that as humans, we are not as unique as we think, and there are millions of people in this world that are just like you, and that can relate to your life experience, your wealth of wisdom, even if they feel mundane to you. It took me some time to understand this, but ultimately going through this journey of becoming a creator, I've had people tell me again and again that I helped them, that I have knowledge that I should share - and I'm not special. It just takes trial and error, and actual steps towards something - even if the end goal is unknown - to figure out the path in front of you. I'm working on a few videos right now, at least one of them is about storytelling, and how to turn everyday tasks into meaningful stories that people actually watch. It took me ages to learn this, but I'll try to break it down into incredibly easy steps. So keep an eye out for that, and thanks again for watching!

@@itsbyrobin agreed, but from the point of view of someone with a dead channel, you might see why sharing a story might seem like a waste of time... when it gets seen by literally no one.

@@OpEditorial The thing with KZfaq is that there are A LOT of skills that need to be mastered to get any views on the videos you make. Thumbnails and titles (also called "packaging") are vital. Some argue - rightfully in my opinion - that the packaging is more important than the actual video. This can be a tremendous pain in the butt, and it is to me, and that's why I would recommend beginner creators that are just starting out to go pursue something with less friction. To me, that's Instagram or TikTok. No thumbnail and no title required. You still need a good structure in the video, but these are often just 20-40 seconds long. It's a much easier way to get started.

I think you left the comment twice, and I answered your other comment already, but this one here had another good point that I wanted to answer. "The chance the topic you're passionate about won't get many clicks" The secret here really is storytelling, and making people relate to who you are, and why you do what you do. Answering these questions publicly helps - over a longer period of time I admit - make people understand that you are 'just like them'. And when you're in this position, even if you talk about yourself in your video, they project themselves onto the story that plays out, and they learn from you in the process. I'll make some videos about this topic :)

OMG GTFO Mate! Your video boosted my confidence you hit a few great target points for a 51yo to get his arse in gear. Been lazily uploading since 2009. Snowboarder who was a videographer in a ski resort for 17years, before that; full time actor. If I can't zip together those skills- my resume ain"t worth shit! I don't need luck I just need to get shit done (never wish a stage actor good luck BTW) Watched enough about all the youtube tricks editing etc.. Last few weeks writing first script for my slowly declining 20 subs Started shooting yesterday. Cheers Bob

Thanks for sharing, Rob. It’s in an interesting spot at that price…too expensive for hobbyists, but less functional for experienced filmmakers compared to the more elaborate set-ups they tend to have. Potentially great in some niche situations, but for $700 and the long wait to get one, I’m wondering where this would find good use. Thanks for the honest review, and keep working hard!
@itsbyrobin
@itsbyrobin 4 ай бұрын
Hi Justin, thank you so much for kind words! Agree, about $700 is definitely on the expensive side when we're talking about the number. But you really do get a bunch in return, especially in the Creator Combo. Hopefully in a few more months, when the market is more saturated, the price will drop a bit more, and there will be used units available too. The Pocket 3 can be quite professional though. Of course, not as much as a setup that costs thousands of dollars, but there are some tools out there that, for example, change the colors of this little guy to look like much more expensive cameras. For me, this is the perfect option when I don't want to take something bigger, especially when filming myself in public, or when I'm being a tourist for example. A lot of places do not like having bigger cameras around, or they start asking "do you have license?" - this never happens on the Pocket 3. All the best and thank you so much once again!
