If it’s digital shift and throttle is there any cables from console to engine or is it all just wires or remote control?
@KellysPortOnline2 күн бұрын
Good question - no shift or steering cables, it's "fly by wire" so it's an electrical connection. No remote control - too important of a feature to fail. Hope that helps!

Not sure how to answer that one - do believe Sea Ray still uses some wood in their hulls (believe they call it "QuietRide" where they add balsa wood) but, unfortunately, wood in hulls does not last very long over time.
@gofy848119 күн бұрын
I agree with the Barletta comparison. Barletta's fit and finish, their quieter ride, and their performance are all a notch above Bennington. Every pontoon company has a shiny object that they advertise, (Bennington has the larger elliptical middle toon, Manitou has the lowered center pontoon, Trifecta has their composite deck, and on and on). Don't get me wrong, Bennington sells a lot of toons, but McDonalds sells a lot of hamburgers. Barletta is GROWING quickly. If you ride in both, you'll like the Barletta.
@KellysPortOnline14 күн бұрын
Can't say we agree with this statement - side by side comparison ride of Bennington vs Barletta the Benny rides much better. Higher in the water, better overall deck construction with thicker toons, and much more quiet. 32" elliptical pontoon gives more buoyancy and ride compared to Barletta's 25" platforms - plus, their system is patented, so no other can copy. You're welcome to use McDonald's an analogy, but not apples-to-apples as Benny is a premium product compared to a McDee's burger. John Deere, Harley Davidson, & Apple iPhone's sell more product at a premium due to their superior products - and Bennington is in the same class. We do agree with considering riding both in same similar conditions - which is why people overwhelmingly choose the Benny over Barletta. Thanks for watching.

The Mercs ARE the choice. Those Yamaha's are boat anchors. almost 1000 pounds each! What a slug. They keep saying quieter quieter quieter smooth, etc. they must have said quiet and smooth 10 times to avoid SLOW and HEAVY. How about true performance.. How about slow and heavy!. 3 Mercurys weigh about as much as 2 Yamaha's!! And they are slow. Imagine a twin outboard boat only doing around 50. A twin 450 equipped Trifecta or Avalon is a 75 mph boat. Of course this Bennington is larger, but it's also a big stupid boat. Big and Slow. Maybe if you needed to put 25 people on board, but if you have 12 or less people, then go for it.
@KellysPortOnline14 күн бұрын
Seems like you've enjoyed our KZfaq page thus far. We're happy to offer the choice of both and, yes, Mercury is more quiet - but having driven both Merc 450 & 500 twins vs. Yamaha 450's - the Yamaha outperforms. Tough to say that Bennington is slow when the 450 platforms run 60+ mph all day. Issue with Avalon & Playcraft and other twin engine pontoons - they are NOT ABYC certified - which means they will FLIP OVER under their own power in hard turns. Countless accidents where people have lost their lives - unfortunately - and we're happy to represent the product with the best warranty, safest on the water, and #1 selling premium tritoon in the world. Thanks for watching.

I have a Barletta 23 Lusso. Twin Biminis up, two people full fuel. I have a Verado 350. I get just over 50mph. HOWEVER twin 350's cost about the same as the single 500!. You CAN put joystick of twin 500's or 450's. Bad info. That tie bar is not needed, there is NO practical use for it. A Yamaha 450 is an anchor, useless. Again, bad info. Redundancy of two motors is not a valid argument. USUALLY if you have problem with a single motor it is electrical or fuel, and it affects both. Plus these new motors are very reliable. I have a Yamaha 300, a Yamaha 150 Jet, A mercury 400 Verado, and a 350 Verdo. NEVER had a problem. Joystick is a wast of 25k. Twin counter rotating motors will turn on a dime, save the money.
@KellysPortOnline14 күн бұрын
You've obviously never driven either a single Mercury 500, nor have you driven a joystick. Joystick on any twin engine application allows motors to turn independently - there's no physical way you get a standard twin binnacle control to operate like a joystick on any twin engine application, even if you had a joystick. Better than 99% of all twin engines sold in America are equipped with joystick (dealer and retail customer), so it's safe to say 99% of the retail public doesn't agree with you. Thanks for watching.

Merc 300 V8's had paint flaking off due to a bad paint process, failing starter motors because water was leaking onto them due to bad cowling design, shifter motor replacements because they are underwater and not watertight, engines falling off because of a locking ring on the steering rod was improperly installed at the factory, leaking gearcase because a locking ring was improperly installed at the factory, power trim units leaking due to poor design of the o-rings on the check valves on the bottom and of course leaking exhaust manifolds spraying salt water everywhere because the factory didn't remove the casting marks where the coupling is supposed to seal. I've seen other issues as well, but these are the most common ones. Choose Yamaha, where the only common problem is that you have to lube the lower power tilt pistons with a marine PTFE grease once a year.
