you didn't understand anything about using the AMC! this way if you transmit in USB, you will also transmit in LSB. furthermore, if you have a transistor amplifier you could also destroy it. thinking that the yaesu engineers are stupid because they set the amc to 50 is ridiculous... There are guides to understand how to set the mic gain, audio processor and amc... I advise you to set the processor to 100%, amc to 55 and raise the mic gain until the "compressor" tool in the s-meter indicates 10db. At least you will avoid broadcasting with a very expensive radio as if you were a truck driver with a $50 CB....

Well you could get a cable with your appropriate BNC connectors and strap the antenna to a backpack frame, then you could carry your batteries and other supporting gear..a chest harness to affix the radio, clip on for your mic and speaker...you're all set for pedestrian mobile
