I've only watched the intro so far (roughly under 16 minutes). I loved the dynamic of one of you asking for clarifications, and the others answering. Great, quick, way to go over the rules.

When you get a random draw there is a possibility of getting a really good draw, a mediocre draw or a bad draw. If you auction off the stuff, that would probably help with the randomness, though it would reduce the amount of money you have to spend in the first stock round. Having said all of that, this still looks like a fun time. Thanks for showing it off.

Shared can only be redeemed if after redeeming at least 60% shares are in players hands or in the market. The redeeming in SR2 & 3 are not according to the rules

> 28:40 [in 18xx you always start companies. In RS there are reasons not to, but I can't work them out.] If you only own 50% of the major you get half the revenue compared to player-owned privates. The privates is where most of the cash increase comes from, so that's a big deal. There are two ways majors can help you make money: (a) they let you realize synergy bonuses; and (b) they can print money by issuing shares. There are three ways you can get money out of majors: selling privates, paying dividends and funneling the money to another major which does some of the first two [Oh and in Stars but not vanilla RS, some majors have powers which make your more money]. Note that issuing shares has anti-synergy with paying dividends. So either don't issue and run a good non-diluted company, or issue shares and loot the company [which is tricky], or just sit on your privates. Here's a heuristic: start majors if and only if their capabilities let you earn more money. Shares are not very liquid and liquidity is king, since that's how you increase your earnings. Does the star system overvalue major-owned privates relative to player-owned ones? That is, do they contribute more stars than their face value would contribute in cash? If so, that nudges you in the direction of cheaply inflating your stock price, issuing shares and looting the money by overpaying for player-owned privates. But you can only overpay by so much. Does the 3p deck have four companies of each color? That's the case in vanilla RS, which cuts down on synergy opportunities and pushes more in the direction of player-owned privates. Combined with aggressive rusting of reds and oranges pushes a lot in the direction of grabbing the high-ROI privates and mostly sitting on them. I'm toying with the idea of having three players play through a 4p deck, just to have more synergies (and slower rusting of red through yellow). > [near the end: I don't understand why I lost] My first-order heuristic is "how many of the highest-ROI companies did I control [say, for >50% of its lifetime]?" Aim everything else at having the liquidity (and value) to buy more high-ROI companies than everyone else. ... I can't exactly call myself an RS expert, and I'm 0 plays into RSS so I'm a total noob. Add salt to my ideas according to taste.

If Rolling Stock (v1) and Rolling Stock: Stars (v2) are the same in this regard, you misplayed the foreign investor: it is only allowed to buy horizontal companies, not vertical ones-that is, it cannot buy a company that was pulled from the deck this round. (Players also cannot buy these companies.)

It’s got a lot of 17 flavor. Not quite as vicious (usually) with the loans. The privates are nice bonuses. I think the designer described it at 17/22/62 all mixed up.

My opinion is that the hex market doesn’t add too much to the game other than having to check two extra conditions for stock movement. But if you like that kind of nuance it’s probably pretty good

I don't know how you used so many loans. Our first game, no company asked for a loan, none were close to the receivership and it ended because one reached 450. I imagine you played it like this to show how it works
@BankruptcyClub Жыл бұрын
We’ve had games where loans are taken like wild and some where no one takes loans. It’s often counter to someone investing or not investing in the Bank. If no one invests then we often end up taking a lot of loans, whereas if they do invest we don’t take many loans. Also, sometimes we take loans just because.

More importantly, we aren’t really good. And especially on a new game or after a win someone will “pull all the levers” just to see what everything does.

Well, after watching the BC play through this a couple of times, I am intrigued. If it becomes available in a reasonable manner, I might try to get a copy. Hopefully, by then, all the rules questions will be dealt with. I suspect that someone has not thoroughly worked out all the combinations of special powers and edge cases.
