For a native NY'er who lived and worked in HK during the 70's and 80's, this is the saddest and most touching version of this song. I can't listen to this without profound sobbing. I've since been evicted from my city. I now live in CT where I can afford to rent an apt. 😭

How brilliant was this? Debbie Harry's 1980s version of "Dreaming" opens each episode. Her 2017 rendition of "The Sidewalks of New York" closes the final episode. So her journey parallels the series journey and my own. I first visited New York in 1980 and remember the Times Square scene as pretty dangerous. My last visit was just pre-Covid. So my life parallels that journey too.

In the end, it wasn't about the show, it was about the passing of time, the looking back at the ghosts we all have, and the sense that we should appreciate the amazingness of the ordinary moments of life.

"I'd be there for him, but I'm dead." Heartbreaking and beautiful. That is life and the passage of time. Great show and an amazing ending. Whether funny or serious, James Franco is a genius.
