My biggest problem with this game is that insane VRAM usage. Even on 1080p my RTX 3060 constantly runs out of VRAM.

I understand this is the wrong video to comment this on, but do you know how I can get more storage out of my graphics card? I have a decent amount of games and I wonder if deleting those will automatically give me more.

Sorry mate, i think your understanding might be a little off. Your games are stored on your hard drive, ssd or spindle drive. Deleting games will give you more space on that storage. Your graphics card uses its ram to store parts of the game whilst its running, graphics asssets and such, it loads them from the hard drive in to graphics card memory whilst the game is running. When you close the game it will unload those graphics items from the graphics card memory. The full game files will still sit on your hard drive until you play it again…. Basically

I was playing this game with extreme settings (minus motion blur which I always disable as a personal preference) in 1080p with my 6700 XT (no hiccups at all) and I was wondering the difference between ultra and extreme. This was self explanatory.

So, it appears to me that what you were describing and showing on the screen is what you see on your computer screen, because I don’t have the same choices that you have when I open the settings on my Xbox. Perhaps you made that clear at the beginning and it just slipped by me. What I have on my Xbox x/s is very basic slider options for brightness, HDR brightness, and three choices for graphics, one called performance another called performance RT, and the third one called visuals. I see no advanced setting options as you do in this video. I realize this video was made several months ago and it’s possible that some changes have been made since you recorded this. Technically speaking, I don’t know why you have those options on a computer monitor and I don’t on a brand new TCL 55”, 120 refresh rate TV.

Sorry, yes these settings are only for the PC. You will not see settings on the xbox because the settings are fixed for console and for the most part cant be changed.

@@HecticRun S’all good. I’m new to sim racing, I recently invested in a “cockpit” and my first Logitech G-Pro and pedals. There’s a pretty large learning curve for the transition over from controller driving. Then there’s learning how to access (on the screen) the data that Logitech provides. Adding a wheel to the Xbox prompted the console software to add many options for the wheel/ pedal settings. Between my tv and the Xbox I think I’ve got the picture quality settings that are best for racing. It helps that my TCL (brand) tv has what’s called “game master” and it detects a video game via the HMI 1 port connection and automatically adjusts the picture. There is probably still some minor tweaking yet to do. I appreciate videos like yours. I watch tutorial vids a lot and learn a lot. Thanks.

Thank you so much for the effort in making this video. it is extremely helpful, to know what each setting actually does as developers never properly explain (in any game) what a setting does in the game world. thanks to this video people can make an informed decision on changing the setting to what suits their needs and hardware, specially for lower-end computers, as there you often have to weigh off the value of quality vs. performance, and using this video, you can choose what to turn off or keep at a lower setting to save precious system resources without sacrificing too much quality. so again, thanks a lot for puttin gthis together and keep up the good work!

Why didn't you test the "Resolution scale"? For me this setting is a joke: 100% looks like 50% pixels calculated, I use now 200%, which looks like 100% in other games!

200% is basically double whatever you have the screen res set to. If youre running at 1080p 200%, your game is effectively rendering at 4k, just scaled in a 1080p window

@@HecticRun Yes, that's clear 200% -> double resolution is calculated, but I mean 200% looks like 100% in other games! 100% in Forza Motorsport, even I set all to MAX (I have a RTX 4090), it looks total "unsharp", like a lower resolution is used (720p or 1080p). My monitor is 1440p and to get same "optical sharpness" like Forza Horizon 5 or F1 2023 I have to use 200%, which is weird. Maybe upcoming (?) TAA will help, like it was by Forza Horizon 5.

And I wondered why the game is so blurry and i coulnt even distinguish the cars that drive in front of me, I remember resolution scale setting from nfs games where it didn't improve the image whatsoever, but here, i just tried to max resolution scale today after my first attempt in 3 months, and the game suddenly looks like fh5.

Ive noticed that in the daylight (when sun has brighten up the roads ) shader quality does make some differnece in shadowing under the car (like right exactly below the car)

Hi friend, I encountered something strange while playing Forza Horizon 5 on my laptop. When I tried to start a race and selected the option to start race events, it loaded, but when I wanted to go, the car didn't move as if it were stuck, but the camera and spectators were all normal except for my car and the other cars not moving at all even though the race had already started. After a few seconds to a minute, the "go!" sign appeared, and then the race started, and the other cars, including mine, could finally move. Why does this happen? Can you explain it?
