Not going to lie, Jay green could have done alot better with his interviewing skill. Sun Ra was excellent as always.

I saw them at that Central Park show with Sonic Youth just 23 days prior. I didn't know Ra was in a chair at the time. This is about how I remember the Arkestra playing on that July 4th. They blew Sonic Youth out of the water. Still the best live concert I've ever attended.

I first started listening to Sun Ra in the late 80s, when I was in high school. Every few years, I find myself returning to his ouevre, discovering new works and developing a deeper understanding of his music and philosophy. Miraculous that he ever existed.

I love every word Sun Ra' speaks beyond and within simplicity and all dogmatic dichotomies. The last 2 letters of my name "Arshagra" is born from meeting and spending a few hours with him as his artist liaison, during is visit to Hartford Connecticut's New Music America's event in the early 1980s. "Arshag" was my grandfather. - C.C. Arshagra

I'm asking this as I often do. Do people get the feeling that what is a spiritual music was turned into a sophisticated "classy" and upper class experience? Became about presenting yourself as cultured, white and maybe rich?
