How does the built in mode S transponder know what the altitude is?

The tailBeaconX has an integrated aviation GPS. This provides the altitude position. for more info visit: www.ssass.co.za/tailbeaconx

@@ssassholdings4013 no it requires alt info from the control head, which has a static port, or an efis. I confirmed this with uavionix.
