Terrific explanation! Why would the fovea be recessed relative to the macula and the rest of the retina? If the best focus of the lens is in the recessed part of the fovea, then optimally, the entire retina should be a continuous curve where the lens has its best focus. For comparison, camera lenses focus on a consistent surface (optimized for the flat film plane). They don’t have or need a dual-zone focus. Is this a screw up on nature’s part? Thanks, Steve Hines

Great video! What's in the stucture of the pacinian corpuscles that makes them good at detecting high frequency vibrations? Is that because of the 60 layers? Why is that?

Thank You Dr Elder for this informative video! Nearly 3 years ago I developed vertical double vision which progressively worsened. Through MRI was diagnosed with a rare Trochlear Schwannoma. After visits to Mayo Clinic and Barnes in St Louis, I have been told that the location adjacent to the brain stem makes surgery impossible and radiation very dangerous. I was sent home to tackle on my own with diet and natural remedies. The tumor which double in size from MRI 1 to MRI 2 has now been dormant and unchanged for MRI 3 and MRI 4. Have you heard of any natural approaches to shrinking a schwannoma? I'm very blessed for the growth to have stopped but am interested in reversing the process.

I'm 70 yrs old and years ago I got vertigo. They took a brain scan and found I was missing just a part of my corpus callous. My mom did drink so fetal alcohol syndrome sounds about right. I was also born with MRKH. Could this also be a symtom of this?

but why does the cell allow it to hyperpolarize. If the cell is at equilibrium conditons now (Na gates closed and K gates open) shouldn,t it go back to the equilibrium pottential? Is it something to do with increased permeability of the cell to pottasium now?

@@DrEldersAnatomyChannel yes, in the last 8 months I’ve been diagnosed with Ataxia, and Alzheimer (mild) too. I’m 75 and stressed. Finding a Movement Specialist Neurologist isn’t easy. When you do they are booked out 7-8 months. I haven’t seen one yet, but I have an appointment in September with one, and Feb 2025 with another. I applied to Mayo, but they turned me down…

Thank you for this. I had one removed from my chest 15 years ago it was the size of a softball. It had pressed against the upper part of my left lung. The surgeon said it was attached to the Vegas nerve. I have had a cough this whole time. In addition it is like it goes through cycles of having issues with my legs, then that stops and I have pains in my back for a bit, then it is my feet and so on and on different parts of my body has pain, tingling or something to let me know it is there. The surgeon said that it was very possible that it damaged the nerve
