Sorry, it's been a long time since I made that video. I should have included the part numbers. I went to the dealer with the old one in my hand. They didn't know what it was even though I showed it to them. They showed me an exploded view of the transmission and I pointed it out. They got the number from there.

Great explanation of how the transmission works. But what fluids should it be filled with? Does the center differential torsen have any special oil, or does it share oil with the front differential and the gearbox? Thank you.
@pnswg01
@pnswg01 3 ай бұрын
I use Fuchs gear oil or the one from the dealer which is probably made by Fuchs. There is only one type of oil in this transmission. The automatic version made by ZF use auto trans fluid for the front section and gear oil for the rear (torsen diff).

@@raulgambramartinez65 I am not a transmission repair person so I can only speak about what I use. I tried Redline after rebuild and that was the worst. I changed that real quick because shifting was not good especially from 1st to 2nd and when it's cold. I replaced it with Fuchs 75w90 and that was a night and day difference. The next time I changed it I went with the one from the dealer. (I didn't see any difference between the dealer oil and the Fuchs) As for GL4 or GL5, I don't remember.

Other videos don't even bother with illustrations which take more time to do. Overall this is more of a slide than a video but it gets the point it's trying to show. Patrick, hoping you can help. I just acquired a used TDI 01E. I have not yet installed into my 2004 2.7 A6. This used trans shifter shaft works well by hand shifting on the bench. I slightly rotate the input shaft for alignment and the gears fall into place. Shifting has a good feel, however, the input shaft will not rotate when engaged into any gear. Also, while in neutral, or any gear, the axel flanges will only rotate in opposite rotation. I'm unable to rotate the axel flanges together in the same direction. Is it hard to rotate the input shaft because of the Torsen differential? And is it also due to the Torsen that I can't rotate the two axels in the same direction? Or, do you feel that the trans is damaged? Any suggestions? Thanks for taking the time. Dennis
@pnswg01
@pnswg01 7 ай бұрын
If you turn any axle flange forward, the opposite side turns backwards. This is normal. That is the way differentials work. You would have to turn both sides in the same direction at the same time. Try applying tension to both drive flange so one cannot turn without the other and power should transfer to the output shaft at the torsen differential. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jLRkksSkuKipe40.htmlsi=T8878DMp94L0eVt7

@pnswg01
@pnswg01 Жыл бұрын
In the USA, most new fuel pump comes with the clear hose attached with ear clamps. You simply plug it to the port inside the fuel tank. We are NOT replacing the return line, it comes with the fuel pump. We are just removing the old pump module and replacing it with a new one. If you happen to get the electric pump with no hose attach to it then you have no choice but to use the old lines. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching. I had two stalling problems with the van in the past. First time was when driving the engine would stall for no reason, mostly when cold, well there was a reason. The EGR valve was bad. It would only stall after you start driving. The other was a bad TCC solenoid. See a previous comment... I don't want to repeat myself.

Hello, would it be a fuel pump issue if when I park on a slope, after some time (20-30 mins I guess) the car cranks longer than normal till it starts? Once started it works fine even on big slopes or garage ramps. It only struggles if left on slopes or just for a long time parked anywhere. It's an audi a6 avant c5 4b 1998 2.4 petrol
@pnswg01
@pnswg01 Жыл бұрын
I have never seen this before. The fuel system should still be under enough pressure to inject fuel as soon as the fuel pump turns on. If the pressure is dropping I would check elsewhere. Not to say this is not a fuel pump issue. In my experience, the fuel pump sometimes stops running intermittently when going bad, but it never depends on a slope. In this case I would hit the bottom of the fuel tank and sometimes get lucky. Check to see if it's an engine temperature issue. If you're getting a long crank when the engine is cold. It could be the engine temperature sensor going bad. (If it's reading that the engine is warm but it's actually cold, the injectors will not squirt extra fuel for cold start, thus the crank time gets longer)
@insus100
@insus100 Жыл бұрын
@@pnswg01 alright thanks a lot, I've read somewhere it could be the sensor too, I'll see. To test the pump, I can just use a multimeter on the cables seen in the video, right? I'll also check fuel pressure in vcds as well.

A great overview video. A few small points for those who care. Audi recommends replacing the caliper mounting bolts each time it is installed since they can stretch over time. Probably fine for most people to leave as-is, but just worth mentioning. Also, they do recommend replacing the 6 spring plates per caliper (the small discs). Audi official parts are stupidly overpriced, but you can find replacements from elsewhere for around $10 each. And I may have missed it, but did you replace the brake clip or reuse it?

Thanks to Jose for answering my question. One other question I'm curious about, all the charts/tables I have seen online showing what the ohm readings should be for the 62te solenoid pack (in particular the one that the Motor City Mechanic has), show the solenoids should be 1.6-1.8 ohms except for the Line Pressure Solenoid which is 4.8-5.1 ohms and the signal pins show 300 ohms. All my solenoids are 1.1 ohms, the line pressure solenoid is 2.6 ohms (most likely bad) and my signal pins all have 104.4 ohms, those readings are consistent which I'm going to assume is good but like I said different from any posted chart or diagram I've seen ? Are there some that are different does anybody know or I have I got an oddball solenoid block ? The transmission has a tag on it that says it is a rebuilt transmission.
