I ran into this problem on *2* of these GE dishwashers today! One was consistently giving a “FTD” Failure to Drain code mid-cycle, and the other was giving an “H20” code when it began filling at the beginning of the cycle. Both were fixed by following your instructions! I found the FTD-problem sensor just had some crud inside the white elbow part and some crud around the black part. H20-problem sensor had a whole bunch of gunk nearly clogging up the white elbow part and lots of stuff around the black part. Cleaned both completely and both started working! Didn’t need to replace either of em! A tip: make sure the black piece snaps back into the white piece. It will leak if you don’t…! Great video-thank you for making my day as a tech much easier :) A tip to anyone reading this-use LESS detergent if possible. Avoid pods, use powder and don’t go overboard at that. I’m convinced excess detergent is behind this problem to some degree…

I'm on 70.00.100A in a 2019 Mazda CX5 and I'm confused about the "firmware must be updated before installing the updated USB hub". Do I only need to update the firmware to 74 or is there something else I need to do?
@Killobyte
@Killobyte Күн бұрын
I can see how that might be confusing. The updated USB hub is just the USB hub that supports CarPlay/AA. So if you already have CarPlay/AA just ignore that, you already have the updated USB hub. If your goal is to get CarPlay/AA, update the firmware first to a version that supports the updated USB hub (version 70.xx or higher, this latest version seems to work well), then you are good to install the updated hub. Hope that is more clear.

So I just did the rear coils and it took about 3 hours with a break in the middle. I removed the throttle body so I wouldn't have to disconnect the coolant lines going to it. The only difficult thing I found was get access to the EGR valve bolds so used a 1/4 socket with a wobbly with a 1/4 extention through the break valve pipes with a second wobbly and adapter to a 1/2 ratchet. Pretty easy overall.

2018 chevy spark manual transmission, while replacing the shifter cable i noticed the lever at the top of transmission is loose. And infact was not the shifter cable at all. I manually put the lever into 1st ,2nd 3rd,4th,5th but none of the gears seem to engage.With engine off. Any ideas what it might be?

So, I think I can do this but I want to clarify that it is important to have the engine off during this process. I just don't trust my battery enough to last 20 minutes- up to 40 minutes. So I'd much rather have my car run the entire time, rather than have it shut off mid-update.
@Killobyte
@Killobyte 2 күн бұрын
Can you do the upgrade with the car running? I've never tried it and I haven't heard of anyone else trying it. I don't know of a reason why it shouldn't work with the car running, as long as the car is not shutoff during the upgrade, but that doesn't mean there isn't a gotcha. With engine off, my suggestion is to have the battery fully changed at the minimum, connect a trickle charger if you have one (or can borrow one), and make sure there is nothing else draining the battery during the upgrade. You could also do a test run to see if your battery will last the full 40 minutes and then fully charge it again before doing the upgrade. Good luck!

Thank you for your quick response! I just wanted to be sure it wasn't something necessary to the steps, since you mentioned "press button only once without foot on gas" a couple times. I'm too scared to test my battery due to me draining it three times already. Darn car camping and dash cam :(. But if I get my hands on a trickle starter I will try that.

Killobyte, thank you for putting to this test. Just wondering, have you experienced any undesirable or unintended consequences to making this change? Did you backup your existing firmware prior to making this change in case something went wrong during installation? I'd hate to have to go hat in hand to the local Mazda dealer to have them fix problems.
@Killobyte

I've upgraded Mazda Connect firmware around 8 times total with no issues. No backup. The key things are to make sure the battery isn't going to die, press the clutch/brake at least every 20 minutes, and don't hit the start/stop button during the upgrade.

Soft top baby! Less noise with the top down. I think I would have built the RF as a coupe, it’s a sexy looking thing, but ST for me every time, it’s cheaper, lighter and they are built for top down, it’s a sports car and opening and closing done manually is the way to go. I had a Boxster S with motor driven soft top, give me the manual version every day. Good honest video, I don’t think security is an issue, if somebody wants in, they get in, but yeah a soft tape needs care and storing outside means it needs more than if you are garaging it.

According to the forums, AA touch doesn't work the same way CarPlay does. This won't enable touch for AA. Apparently if you are using a wireless dongle that simulates AA over CarPlay protocol, it will work, but I haven't tried it myself.

I have no rubbing, even in autocross and on track, with my 17"x8" wheel and 235/40r17 tire or with my 17"x7" (stock) wheel and 215/45r17 tire. If you are wanted the widest tire, you can go to a 17"x9" wheel and 245/40r17 tire but would have to roll fenders and reposition the rear brake lines.

Just so you know, this video is still very relevant and helpful. The replacement process of a hot cartridge on a 25+ year old faucet that still looks like new was a challenge because the cartridge was exactly like this one rather than a newer cart. shown in most of the other videos, including one on the Fister site. Fortunately, others had mentioned the swap of the old brass fitting on the new cartridge but the supplied instructions were very incomplete. Finally figured out using the new upper and lower gasket and got the job done. Found this video after the fact and appreciate the validation that I was on the right track. For others who may need help with part numbers on older PF faucet/cartridges, the Fister site will identify model names and cartridge number of older models not archived in their search database if you send a pic of the faucet.

I was dead set on the RF for a few years. Yes, years. Now that I'll finally be getting one in January 2025 (hopefully no big news on 2025/26 models), I changed my mind about a month ago and will likely go ST because of the classic feel and look. I've been waiting for my daughter to graduate from college as I'm helping her to pay for everything and she will graduate in December so I'll have the freedom to go Zoom-Zoom old style.
