Everything comes from fusion and essence fusion. For essence fusion, you need the essence of a demon with a passive/skill you want and then use essence fusion to give it to another demon. So long as you're collecting all of the treasure and doing side-quests, you will end up getting most demon's essences throughout the game, but they can also randomly give you their essence upon leveling up. As for your NG+ question, it's really up to you. Newborn is very close to a fresh playthrough in that you keep almost nothing; whereas Reborn keeps almost everything.

Just random skills since I never actually used him for anything more than triggering Strategize.

There are really only 3 fights in the entire game in which status ailments are used by the enemy enough for Abyssal Mask to maybe be worth it and Safeguard is a wasted skill slot since in any situation where it would be useful, you can simply swap to another demon that wouldn't need it in that situation.

Once you beat the super boss to unlock Godborn, you also unlock the miracle for purchase that extends the level cap to 150.

I don't know how opposed to it you may be, but a member of my Discord has a setup that lets him use Google Translate to play the games in Japanese since he can't speak Japanese, and I'm sure he'd be willing to tell you how he does it/help. The main negative is that the text can be a bit janky that way, but the positives include potentially a cheaper game due to exchange rate, more accurate translation that also has no censorship (he has checked with me on numerous occasions to confirm the translations are accurate), and not needing to wait for NISA.

Arioch can be a good replacement for sure. My only issue with Figment Slash is that against same-level enemies, even with both Beast Eye and Dragon Eye you still don't have a 100% chance to hit, and therefore need to bring a demon with Helmsman.

The only incenses I used were to initially push Beelzebub, Sakuya, and Masakado to 120 Vit each, and to initially push Masakado's MP to ~700; these were used specifically for the Satan boss fight to unlock Godborn. Other than that no incenses or balms were used to increase stats; everything came from playing the game multiple times.

First, if a demon has enough defenses to not be in danger of dying to almighty/pierce attacks in one shot, then a null/repel/drain is always better. Safeguard is also not necessary on Nuwa since you would never use her as a debuffer on enemies that null wind, or really most fights as there are better debuffers -- in my case, Sacrifice of Clay was actually on the chopping block as I only used it for one fight the entire game. As for Beelzebub, his main identity is his innate skill, not Death Flies, especially for end-game/difficult content. Death Flies does have a high base power, but since it's AoE, so to effectively use it you would need to use Safeguard or run into situations where it's completely useless; if I were to run a DPS ability on him it would be Mudobarion over Death Flies.

Hmmm, OK. Well what about the Energy Drain usage? Sakuya probably doesn't need it in the first place because her unique heals MP anyway and plus, I'm pretty sure Chakra Elixir would do just as well for MP recovery without wasting a skill slot on Energy Drain, especially considering the fact the demons running it don't have Almighty potential or pleroma anyway.

@@ampkenryu7145 Energy Drain is one of, if not the most efficient skill in the game, doing damage, self-healing, and MP restoration. In a situation in which you are healing every turn or every other turn, then Sakuya's self-MP restoration is enough, but for long fights or fights in which she doesn't, MP can be an issue, especially when you are using magatsuhi skills other than hers. I have tried dropping Energy Drain from my demons and always regret it.

​@@RozalinGamingI wholeheartedly second this. Energy Drain is such a useful skill for dedicated support mons. If they're going to be doing anything that's not applying de/buffs, and they're not set-up to be damage dealers, then HP/MP restoring while still contributing some sort of chip damage is the next best thing. Didn't think about High Restore+E Drain for Oma Crit turns or Magi Crit innates. That's kinda clever.

Demi-fiend essence

Status ailments in general are weak in SMT 5 for many reasons. I only ended up using the poison component against one enemy and even then, despite have Samael's skill having the highest chance to land a status ailment + the enemy being weak to that ailment, it wasn't even close to 100% uptime.

It's fine on normal difficulty -- roughly a 90% chance for 1 hit to crit with both glees -- but falls off on hard mode and especially on Godborn. It also has the downside of being horrible for damage outside of ST situations due to the hits being random. I value the consolidated damage and guaranteed press-turn of using something else over Decree.

Null only cost 2 Enemy Press Turns. Reflect and Drain cost all Enemy Press Turns. So Reflect and Drain are actually better than just Null. You can interrupt an entire turn with those

It might be ease of availability, for the most part, I don't think there's any other reason. Like Null Phys is farmable via Ongyo-Ki essences in the Temple of Eternity dungeon, whereas Drain Phys only appears once, on Abdiel second form essence, and repel phys I think also only appears like once per run

@@HyenaFox Well, you can actually obtain all Escence that you want in Godborne. Since all Demons you fusion automatically level up to 150, you only need to spend some Macca and fusion the demon that you want. If you don't obtain the Escence after the LV Up, just load and retry. I do that, you can obtain any Escence easily, just spending some Macca. PD: Null Phys can be obtained by OnGyo-ki and Jonsu Ra, Repel Phys by Fallen Abdiel, and Drain Phys by Nuwa true form.

I did have her in my stock at one point but outside of using their unique magatsuhi for the sake of seeing it, I never used it because there was always something better to be using, so I removed her for more space.

I tried using Onyankopon and absolutely hated him; as a buffer/debuffer, or even a healer, he is worse than other options, and if you are relying on him for taunt then he needs to be in your party every 3-6 turns depending on build. So I just removed him and exchanged 1 skill slot on my MC for a much better demon in my party.

Yes. Each story path has a new super boss that can only be fought on that path and the one for unlocking Godborn is locked to CoV.

In general the only dialogue that really changes much is the dialogue before the chapter boss as well as the dialogue after all of the events at the end of the chapter -- this is where the Ikaruga info happens.

The main reason you really only see things about Arc Feather is because it is by far and away the best thing to be doing for both Daybreak and Daybreak 2. Optimal team setup is Van (tank setup) + 3 casters -- early on this is Feri, Agnes, and Risette, and then you replace Feri with Judith once she joins. And yeah, Arc Feather is so good that despite being a physical attacker, Feri's best setup is to force into being a magic user; she actually gets access to Arc Feather earlier than everyone else thanks to her Drive Line being suited to it. Other than that, give your CP/turn accessory to Risette because her Cobalt Curtain is broken and will make you effectively invincible. We'll see if they finally nerf Arc Feather and Cobalt Curtain for Kai no Kiseki later this year but given that both were buffed going into Daybreak 2, I doubt they will be.

According to his replies, what you need to do is beat the final boss, make a cleared save file, and then you can approach Mastema on a separate save file before the final battle. He should have the quest then.

It depends on the innate skill -- some passively work, some require specific conditions to be met. All require the demon to be in your active party though, and there are quite a few that are mistranslated as well.

If it's for essence fusion, that means you don't have their essence anymore.
