No knife is good for prying. In fact a lot of warranties specifically say that damage to a blade as a result of prying is not covered under warranty.

You got the Latin name wrong. This is not a member of the genus Populus. It's not even in that family. This is a member of the 2 genus Magnolia family, and the proper species name is Liriodendron tulipifera. It's called "yellow poplar" in the lumber trade due to the similarity of its lumber to that of trees in the Populus genus, but it is not a poplar. Or a tulip for that matter. This is the American representative of the 2 species genus Liriodendron. The other is Liriodendron chinense. The American species is the tallest North American hardwood (angiosperm or flowering plant/tree) and the tallest tree species east of the Mississippi. A tree in Tennessee has been tape-dropped repeatedly at 191' tall. Thought I'd help clarify since the first sentence has incorrect, scientifically and verifiably false information about the botanical name of the tree.

I'm trying to fix this exact issue on a tree in our backyard. There's a few huge roots with smaller ones tangled on top and I had no idea how to get them off without damaging the trunk. I'll pick up a handsaw!

I use Waste Management Bagsters, used to use tarps much more often. They sell them for about $30 each at Lowes. Pickup service is extra and I don't pay for or schedule service. I can pick them up with my loader's grapple or tow them behind my loader. I use them for small twigs and stump grindings. Like tarps, they don't last forever, but still are totally worth it.

I appreciate the big picture eco overview and the entomology. When the tree has to go it has to go. Especially that close to the house, but there’s always a cost. Several costs. Good job. Subbed

Me and my dad just trimmed some large ivy bushes and the ivy growing up the tree. Had to take the chainsaw to the roots growing around the tree, tore out some of the ground level roots by hand, etc. Best to use a hedge trimmer for the the green parts of the ivy. The branches will get stuck in your chainsaw. After that, take out the chainsaw for the roots and don't be afraid to dig in the dirt for any hidden roots.

Good work guys! Video never does justice to the size of a limb. In person viewing also never does justice to limbs. They are always bigger and longer than they ever look from the ground. The GRCS is good for 3500 pounds, maybe 3000; I would need to check the specs. Definitely plenty for a single limb. A neat thing about the GRCS is that you can use a large drill with a special bit and use that to activate the GRCS instead of the hand crank. I know what you mean about using the helmet comms. I still find myself yelling. A hard habit to break.

In my area much of the dyed mulch is from brush, logs and reground arborist chips. Dyed black mulch uses carbon black/charcoal for colorant with latex to cause it to adhere. The red mulch uses iron oxide. And triple ground hardwood is undyed finely shredded aged mulch.

Bidding high honestly don't work all the time, because when I was roofing back after high school, we had a roof that had 2 chimneys and the homeowner wanted one of them removed and the roof line, no access to back up our dump trailer for the removal of the 2layers comp. and layer of shakes. And did a re-deck and laminate shingles back on, and boss didn't want the roof and he would never walk away without doing a bid, so he took it by 4 or 5 times the amount of a typical bid, and no sooner than he said a number and handed the guy a bod sheet, he said "sold"., he probably paid more on the roof than the smaller house on a decent lot in a small Township

I have a number of evergreens along the property line that have ivy growing up into them from the neighbors yard. My plan of attack is to weed eat the ivy that’s covering the ground so I can get to the trees. It’s April in Georgia so I want to make sure there’s no snakes (copperheads) hiding out in the ivy. I plan on pulling up as many vines as I can and removing a section as you did on the trees. Want the stuff gone but really don’t want to use herbicides to do do it. Going to do one tree at a time over the next few months.

Now that my awakening has happened will never understand and question the creation of bugs that are destructive. And some will say they serve a purpose for” beneficial insects” a bug is a bug is a pest . Bee pollinators that do a job for the trees and plants is all we need . Birds can eat seeds and worms . Did I cover my bases? Please don’t go science on me . Pest equal more chemicals to kill . It’s a racket of the secret societies .
