Too short?
@DineshBhadwal
@DineshBhadwal 11 ай бұрын
Tried to tell a complete story but it might feel a bit short especially if the viewer misses the reference to the film on projection. I was aware of that but took a chance. The excerpt is from a film called Suraj Ka Saatwan Ghoda. That film's ending leaves many puzzled. The guy in the middle of this montage is referring to that 'incompleteness' which he felt after coming out of that film screening. My montage cuts abruptly the cricket section, which is then connected to a film screening. Everything is incomplete in this montage as it is in the film referred to. The woman who comes towards the camera is asking me to stop filming hinting again that this montage won't be complete.

This was a momentous moment in the American film industry's history. Another Black man would not win the Oscar for Best Performance By An Actor in A Leading Role until 2002, when Denzel Washington won (Halle Berry won the same year, making the Oscars that year another significant "first": both Performance by an Actor and Actress in Leading Roles were Black).

When she relises he is leaving for ever. Broke my heart but he was a nomad and would touch a lot of peoples lives on his way. We all do no matter what job we do. People remember us and we them. When he left and drove off to his new life adventures with out them, Dammm. Life goes on and sometimes ends.

What an amazing movie, I first saw this as a young boy when it first came out. I have watched it maybe a hundred times in the following decades. This is the most difficult good bye scene in any movie I have seen. The women in that room had suffered so much in Europe at the hands of fanatics, and the departure of Homer Smith brings out an expression of the woeful loneliness and loss for Mother Maria’s life. They are so pronounced it is almost impossible not to tear up. Almost 60 years and over a hundred times, it still saddens me to the core.

A wonderful movie from an era of similarly crafted movies. Among them: A Patch Of Blue, 12 Angry Men, The Miracle Worker, A Thousand Clowns and I'll include a non black and white film, They Might Be Giants. We are very fortunate that Sydney Poitier helped society usher in better relations between people in the middle of the 20th century. Intelligence and dignity was his gift to us all.

I think why "Lillies of the Field " is such an excellent film is because of the unity to get something done, but ultimately because of the centrality of Jesus Christ through and in it all.
