I had a good friend who was a prisoner at Stalag Luft 3 American section. I still have the diary he wrote while in prison and his Caterpillar membership notice. I named my place of business in his honor " Stalag 85" in the Florida Keys .

Thanks for another great video and storytelling. I admit I'd never heard of the battle of Kohima, and I consider myself a bit of a history buff. I will never forget it and read up, on whatever I find.

I've been silent too long. I'm now seeking facts; my kinfolk was shot down ,the English channel 1940. All I can do is give my surname, it's the same, and look into the sad results. Would you help me, history guy?

This wasn't the only disaster they had involved with the Normandy Landings. AFTER D-Day - they were bringing more troops across - and they had an incident where a ship was sunk costing a large number of lives. I believe it was sunk by a mine but don't recall whose mine it was. This incident was also full of foul ups that cost more lives than might have been lost. There was a German Air Raid on the Port of Bari en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_raid_on_Bari - where a Transport carrying Mustard Gas was hit - causing a major Poison Gas Incident. List of Maritime Disaster in WWII by number of losses en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_maritime_disasters_in_World_War_II There are a lot. .
