Perkins summed up the Nissan's right there, they should of never been allowed on the touring car circuit

Just like Larry Perkins said. You introduce a race to compete with touring cars. Four wheel drive and steer with a twin turbo six cylinder against a street car. Australia will never be the same.

@seinfeld11123 I know this is an old comment but im pretty sure this was actualy the first year of v8's only. If you remember the bathurts the year before in 93 when skafe crashed his skyline talking about how it wasnt how he wanted to retire the car ect ect.

@MrSkeleton131 3 жыл бұрын
No 1994 was the 2nd year of the V8 category, 1993 was the 1st. The skyline GTR crash you're talking about was 1992, the last year of Group A rules in Australia, and it was Jim Richards in the car when it crashed not Skaife

yes that is what they call drafting Murry (lol they never heard of drafting thats how old this is) these cars look great. skylines, Commodores (VP's, look great) old falcons, sierra cosworths & BMW's ohh just thinking of these days gives me a hard on, I was only 9 years old but I still remember, even when lowndes had the VP, or VR's with Brock and did so well for his debut bathurst

this was when it was true touring car racing, many different Make, models, and cars, all with similar power / weight ratios, some turbos some naturally aspirated, some 4wd some not, an amazing time bring back the rules of this era, Toyota are dying to get into racing in the current V8 super taxi's I mean V8 super cars

That one lap was more exciting then a whole season of todays v8 supercars! Ok maybe not but it shows what is missing from todays racecars. I would prefer cars like that doing 2:14's then v8 slotcars doing 2:06's

i almost agree with you on some things. top fuelers are the worst comparison to draw a v8 versus turbo debate. as much as i love them, remember this. they have 11.2 litre motors. have psi superchargers cranking excess of 40 psi. use a mixture of %40 nitro/%60 methanol as fuel. and blow up like a grenade at the slightest bit of tuning irregularity. ford should have used xf turbo crossflow sixes as touring cars.

I just had a look through the 1994 highlights DVD that I have- and the burning brake happened during race 2 at Mallala in South Australia. It was round 8 of 10. Skaife won that round, and that pretty much put the outcome of the C'Ship beyond doubt. Gullie9- Bathurst wasn't a round of the C'Ship until 1999. In 1996 the cars raced there for a sprint round and then later in the year the normal Bathurst enduro. Pity Bathurst isn't a stand alone event like it was all those years ago I say.
