Rode in a few chinooks and black hawks while in the service. The last thing you want the crew to know is that it’s your first time in one 😩😩

that dumb police lady or whatever was just standing behind the tribunes waiting to get slapped by them with no idea. if hadnt told her/him to move ass he'd be surprised to see what happens if they take off (probably). was a high chance of some big slap.

Good thing it landed in grass. I remember as a kid watching one of these, along with a Huey and a Cobra, land in a mall parking lot for a recruitment event. It was cool once the rocks stopped pelting everyone and their cars!

As far as I can remember, I've only ever seen Chinooks in flight once in my life, and that was driving south on the 5 Freeway on my way home. It was a pair of black Chinooks with the refueling probes which told me immediately they were from the Army's elite 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, the infamous Nightstalkers. They flew right over the freeway and right over my car. It was super cool, but I had to watch the road and not the big choppers thundering over my car.

The original sirens sent the “turn on the news” message during the crisis. The crisis was averted but then-President James Earl “Jimmy” Carter still made an official visit to the station in light of what happened.

All the pansies walking by not taking a glance like their so bad ass. They do home and play call of duty and jump back into their stollen ballot story about the Fay they landed in a CH-47 Chinook amd how bad ass the downblast is and how amazing it was to see it come in,…uh I mean , from inside the chinook. Doesn’t matter who I are, a CH-47 landing is soenthing anyone won’t ever forget, military or not. Easy to spot non supporters of the military and it’s sad.
BAD INVENTION,THE ENEMY WILL HEAR YOU COMING FROM 10 MILES AWAY.

If you've ever read Robert mason's book Chickenhawk in one chapter he was talking about a VC unit being taken by surprise by a flight of hueys and if you've ever heard one huey, it announces it's arrival many minutes before it actually gets there and they're quite a bit slower than a Chinook, but a whole flight of them ? It must have been the hearing impaired unit of the VC

I thought: how the fook is that thing moving forward. Until I saw that small propulsion engine attached at the rear.
@jonash60703 жыл бұрын
Lol those small turbines drive the 2 rotors which move the chopper forward.
@MickB2353 жыл бұрын
The engines provide power to the rotors through a complex system of transmission shafts and gearboxes and whilst there's residual thrust from the turbines it's contribution to forward push is negligible the directional and vertical thrust components are all controlled by cyclic and collective pitch changes of the rotor blades
