Over a decade ago I made a public feature request for clip gain on the forums, it was met with loads of people just arguing that it's pointless, and I'm doing it wrong, I should automate better, just because pro tools has it doesn't mean blah blah blah. I tried explaining workflow to them and the time saving I get in PT comparatively, loads of them banded together with "but I can just automate that, it's far easier to automate, not an issue, useless feature bloat, just learn better workflow"... Certainly not my main reason to focus on PT, but it's funny to see now that they finally added such a simple core editing feature. Anybody with pitchforks can chill, I'm not here hating on FL, probably going to try it out again to be honest.

This is so awesome! the saturation on the “Sss” is freaking genius, I tested it out on a metal track and it sounds so much better than ducking the sibilance imo, also thank you for making it affordable! will definitely be checking out your other plugins, I’m sure they r great too.

Why did you send the melody and drums to the instrumental bus?

Hi bro. Great video. Can I ask one question? What are the two Effects busses for? One I understand is taking inputs of Reverbs, sends etc.. what is the other one for?
@jhudstudio4144
@jhudstudio4144 3 ай бұрын
HI, Most of the time if I am making an instrumental, I will have all effects sent to a series of effect channels. Then I will bus them so I can quickly turn off all effects for the instrumental. effects The 2nd effects bus is for vocals. This way I can turn off the vocal send effects on 1 bus and turn off all effects of the instrumental bus. It comes down to personal taste and the reason behind it. The great news, with the mixer, there are many methods to get the job done!

Hi... is this aimed mostly at voiceovers? I'm wondering why you didn't showcase it on some singing too?
@jhudstudio4144
@jhudstudio4144 6 ай бұрын
Hi, This is a dual compressor set up. The pres compressor on the left and the final compressor on the right. The pres compressor helps vocals sit better in the mix but removing mud from the vocals and in return, give the vocals presence and clarity. The Doubler can be used as a dub effect and it has Lt and Rt that controls the time of the left channel and the right. The reason I did not show with singing, is because I cannot sing. Perhaps in a future video, I can show the vocals in a complete mix. Thanks!

Great video!! So normalizing can take files up if too soft, as well as take files down that are too loud?
@jhudstudio4144
@jhudstudio4144 6 ай бұрын
Yes this is the case. Normalizing will take whatever sample and bring it up to the topmost peak at 0db or if the gain is above 0 to bring it down to 0. This is great, however, lets say you don't use a pop filter over the microphone. You then have a plosive that is very loud. If the plosive is very loud compared to the rest, the peak of the plosive will limit at 0db meaning the rest of the sound may be very loud. Here is an updated version of this clip with volume cuts and turning up each part before going into a compressor. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ntqApsVylrOygqc.html Also if you are having an issue with vocals sitting in the mix, check out my new vocal king 2 plugin which has 2 compressors. One to set the pres and the other for final compressing. However, its always best to set each clip to either normalize or to gain stage to level match before compression. jhudstudio.com/audio-plugins/ Make sure to scroll down to the vocal king 2, then the download bundle is up above.

Bro until today end of 2023 theres no other way to clip gain only pieces of the vocal without the need to drag the clip to another track? Thats crazy to create a new track for every pop, breath etc.
@jhudstudio4144
@jhudstudio4144 7 ай бұрын
It's simple, cut up vocal, turn up or down the gain per cut up. No need to make unique or save another file. I may have missed understood you though. You can always create an automation clip and do it that way.

What about plugins?
@jhudstudio4144
@jhudstudio4144 10 ай бұрын
Plugins are not saved in Zipped files. Its always good to add a list of effects or instruments in a notepad file in case something is needed later. The best bet is to render the wave file out of an instrumental and or melody and add then in just in case the plugin can't be recovered.

Horrible customization! Maybe in the next generation the theme section will be much more refine! Just watch Cubase 12 settings for customization or Studio One 6.1. Huge. In my opinion Image Line create this just to be there, cause the themes looks horrible. Some of them monochrome, no option to personalize playlist, mixer, or channel rack separate. Just...one big mess! This is what you get for free lifetime update!

how do you record your vocals withot them having any noise?
@jhudstudio4144
@jhudstudio4144 Жыл бұрын
Hi, So the key of recording without noise takes only a few things. A simple usb audio interface like a Focusrite 2nd gen or higher. Then a low noise mic. Condenser mics like the baby bottle from blue offer ultra low self noise from the mic itself along with a high output to the audio interface. Then the room is very important as well. If your computer or laptop has jet engine fans, that will pick up a lot of noise. If you can afford some room treatment foam, this helps a lot. Also the distance from the mic makes a big difference. I recommend anywhere from 3 inches to 6 inches away from the mic. The closer, the more proximity effect but less noise. I hope this helps. Please reply with your current setup and I may be able to help out further. Best, Jay

@@jhudstudio4144 so wait fl 21 is making a folder that i can just copy and put in my external drive ? Thats crazy and easy Is it a folder for every project or all data in that one folder
@jhudstudio4144
@jhudstudio4144 Жыл бұрын
@@peterk3556 in FL studio 21 when you go to save as new it automatically brings up a project folder and files will be saved in that folder specifically. You should be able to copy that folder to an external drive. So the FLP in order recordings should be in that folder. But the first thing you want to do is make sure you save the project or else the recorded files will not be in there. Now let me explain that I haven't really dove too deep into the new setup. I'll have to mess around with it to give you 100% correct answer. If you haven't used FL studio 21 yet, I recommended downloading it and trying it out. You can keep older versions of FL studio still installed. Just make sure you don't open up old projects and save them in the new version. They may not be able to open up and the older version.
@jhudstudio4144
@jhudstudio4144 Жыл бұрын
This gave a quick save quick save. So there's an option to create new project folder and then copy used samples to that project folder. Make sure both are select every time. So it appears that even if you don't save the project first and decided to record something you can save the project and it will create the new folder for the project will be at along with copying all the samples over. You can designate the location as well where you want to be saved at. And then make a copy of that folder over to an external hard drive. I really hope this helps you out as well. I'm just so used to making zip loop packages I haven't did too much with the project folder setup option.

Hi ther, are you able to record 1song in one track in the playlist and add additional songs in the same track. Say like 15 songs and export the whole project and separate tracks so when u play the music your able to skip through the tracks. Like from song 1 to the last song?
@jhudstudio4144

The playlist allows any type of combination that you would like. Let's say you record vocals to the playlist you can drag and drop them. There's also an option where you can record directly into a playlist lane. Hope I answered you correctly. If not please let me know.

I haven't updated fl studio since 20.8.4 that was the only time I thought it was worth it, most of the time these updates just add a load of crap you will never probably use and distract you from producing and they all contribute to your computer becoming old laggy and unable to run fl studio.
