interesting, but the samsung ssd has nearly 40 higher read speed than the intel SSD, do think that may have effected the speed of the hyper card, some of the other tests I have seen with the samsung drives reading at 14,800 MB/s vs the 7800 you achieved in the same card, also was the PCIE slot set for 4x4x4x4. (sorry haven't seen the other vids on the setup). Reason i ask is i have Asus prime x299 board with 10900x cpu running at 4.0ghz with 128gb of ram on a single m.2 drive. Just wondering if I may stretch the life of this machine with the hyper m.2 by massively increasing the transfer rate of my SSD with the hyper card

29 hours is not enough time to dry, especially the sauce. Did you weigh the trays or use a FLIR camera? When I freeze dry I go over 40 hours for everything and I weigh the trays. Also use a FLIR camera too.

I pressure can my pork, let the jars cool and all the fat is automatically brought to the top of the jars. Then shred it and mix in BBQ sauce and freeze dry. Much less likely to have any grease left in the pork, for a better no worry freeze dry. Also freeze drying with no sauce is a good way to ensure infused BBQ. Instead of rehydrating with just water rehydrate with diluted BBQ sauce. Once rehydrated add additional undiluted sauce as needed.

You are calling me with these silicon trays in the freeze dryer. Your not supposed to do that. You are supposed to spread the gravy on the trays or get dividers. Your doing it wrong. Sorry

Because you can break it apart so easy tells you it’s not fully dried. They are too thick.

Thanks for watching! They freeze dry fine this way especially after the recent firmware update. The sugar content of these baked beans keeps them pretty consolidated until you add water and rehydrate them.
@iiinsaiii
@iiinsaiii Жыл бұрын
Why are you freeze dry the beans in the silicone trays? You’re restricting the machine to do it job. You should put the silicon tray in the freezer, once everything is frozen. Then pull the blocks out and stick them in the freeze dryer. But what I found out is the block is too thick and it will be still frozen inside. Remember, nothing higher then the tray. Plus you need to weigh the trays to tell you if everything is fully dry and use a thermal camera.

@@frostysith3356 - but how long did you expect to preserve it before eating it? I'd always thought freeze-drying is meant to preserve food for years, and not just for weeks - especially if you're using Mylar bags. Is the nutrition the same after freeze-drying?

question its been a long time since I had my original g95. When outside in the sunlight do you have to crank up the EVF brightness? I don't know if this was a issue for me before since its been so long since I had my 1st one. However I dont remember ever having to move to above medium EVF brightness in the past.
@frostysith3356
@frostysith3356 Жыл бұрын
No, I was initially having some problems with the EVF because of fat fingering the Fn button that cycled through the settings….user error on my part, no longer an issue for me! Thanks for watching and commenting!

I started out with the g95 and then purchased a g9. I let both of the camera go about a year ago. Now getting back into M43 and this time just picked up a g95 for its size and weight. I plan on using it mainly for street photography. I'm hopeful that soon we will see a new PDAF m43 camera and I will pick that one up.

How long will they last room temperature? And how would you recommend storing them? I know you mentioned you have done vaccum sealed mason jar? How does that work? Or what’s the process like? Do they bars taste the same after a few days?
@frostysith3356
@frostysith3356 Жыл бұрын
Vacuum sealed mason jars are the only way we have stored them for months before eating them all. You can seal them in the Harvest Right, remove the heater tray, place jars with lids and rings light finger tight, the start the vacuum pump while valve is closed and door is sealed….take down to ~1500 then open valve and the lids will seal. Kept in a cool dark place they store fine for months. We left a jar in a medium sunny window and they faded in color quite a bit, I just tossed those. They are good but we don’t make them as much as we were because there is a lot of effort and time to make from scratch. Good luck and thanks for watching!

Thanks for a great tutorial! Was your finished product in any way having a greasy feel? Mine did but not dripping or super greasy. Just had a slight feel of grease. I drained the sausage very carefully twice before freeze drying. They are very dry nonetheless. Should I condider this batch a fail?

We use bags from HarvestRight and from Amazon. I have generally gotten away from bags with clear sides or less than 4mill thickness. Prefer 5 to 7 mill thickness. HarvestRight bags are very high quality and we tend to use them for hard and pointy products like pizza 🍕! Enjoy and thanks for watching and commenting!

How did you get the bags from vacuum to sealer without loosing vacuum?
@frostysith3356
@frostysith3356 2 жыл бұрын
I generally just keep them folded over and don’t move them much until they are going into the sealer. This is not 100% and occasionally I have to repeat the vacuum process. When I started experimenting with my technique I was maybe 50/50. I started using a rubber band (which keeps the bag folded over) and a little more practice and now it works almost every time….with only the occasionally repeat. I have stopped vacuum sealing bags of rice and other hard pointy food unless it is going into a long term storage bucket immediately and is not going to be transported in a vehicle. With vehicle travel and backpacking we seem to get less tiny punctures in the Mylar bag if they are not vacuum sealed. For other food products, like beans etc, we still vacuum seal those and have no problem with tiny leaks! Hope the video was helpful! Thanks for commenting….I should probably do a video just on using the vacuum feature. We use it to vacuum glass jars with canning lids as well and those work great if you need more than a food saver level of relative vacuum.

I usually just buy a big jar of mixed nuts at Walmart and eat as daily snacks for 6 days. I like the idea of adding bacon pieces to the mix. I tried just eating Pecans or Walnuts, but they were so high in fiber, I had to poop every few miles and was way too much hassle. Mixed nuts have half the fiber.

Thanks! I get them from Amazon, there are many suppliers of high quality bags. If you are going to long term storage then the thicker 5 to 7 mil are what to go for. The thinner bags with one transparent side are good for shorter storage periods. I have used the thinner ones for storage up to a year but I personally think that is pushing the limit for the thinner bags.
