Amazing story as I'm writing from Dauphin, MB, the home of William Barker, VC. I lived in Seattle for 17 years and one of my friends on one of my hockey teams that I played for was a Boeing engineer that worked on that exact plane! CRAZY!!

I'm not saying that the RAF didn't do their job, but the Allied artillery was extremely accurate and effective during this particular episode. The Polish tank crews were also there hanging on in the front line, very much on their own, hampered by faulty communications to the Canadians, who had to fight their way up to their positions to relieve them.
