I'd be interested in seeing if there's a difference in airflow if you reversed that funnel in the bumper. There's a book on auto aero that mentions a reverse funnel will allow airflow to expand to fill the space, where a funnel will cause turbulence on the sides and actually pull some of the air out. The book is called Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. I think it's def worth looking into.
@thirdgengarage2 ай бұрын
I’ve seen that book mentioned around forums, going to have to check it out, thanks! I’m also thinking the length of the first funnel and how quickly it reduces could need some reworking, but at this point I’m just guessing. 😅

@thirdgengarage2 ай бұрын
I’m printing in ASA, I’ve have good results as long as the print is at least 2mm thick, if not I get some layer separation, theirs probably something that can be done to correct this. I’m not terribly well versed on printers, first and only one I bought is the ender 3 pro, got it for cheap at micro center and have been learning on it. I think I’m pushing it printing ASA without any upgrades but so far so good.

Looks like I am too late to explain the intake: I have ran this set up before going ITBs, with stock ECU, no PS or A/C, and a full exhaust system with a cat, I ran at 126 WHP. This style intake works better for higher end power than torque. If you want optimal gains for mostly stock set up, run a large U-bend by the intake manifold, 21 inches in length.

hot air intake
@2seater_mx52 ай бұрын
Leroy engineering proved that there is no notable difference in terms of performance between having 60º air and 90º air, at least on a N/A engine with no other performance modifications. also as a side note, when driving, the engine bay of a miata renew it's air every 4 seconds, so its not that hot in there.

it really is a negligible difference, the valve cover breather is to vent crankcase pressure, it does vent it back to the intake in a loop, but youre not giving it "unmetered" air per se if you vent it and block the hole in the intake. its more about a vacuum leak, which ive personally not seen an issue with myself running a short ram.
@thirdgengarage3 ай бұрын
Yeah, Not knocking the breather filter, I haven’t heard of anyone having issues with them. It just seemed to make sense to me to keep it connected to the intake, wasn’t difficult and probably cost about the same.

Happens, but you found the issue and got it sorted. All good now? No leaks? Sorry I was a little late to reply, did you end up adjusting the needle?
@Freshmattik3 ай бұрын
@@thirdgengarage Hey man, thanks for your answer. I actually had a small leak, oh well I bought a sandwhichplate and attached the sensor to it, I was also unsure whether to use teflon tape or locktight, but I used the tape. The sensor came loose somehow, I screwed it in again and now everything works as it should. Regarding your question, I haven't adjusted the needle yet, to be honest I don't know what scale I should use, do you know what I mean? But the needle moves super fast, probably because it's an NC? You'll laugh, before the rebuild I pulled off the OEM oil pressure switch and started the car, the fucking thing was still doing its "dance" :D But I'm absolutely sure that the value displayed now is actually coming from the transmitter/sensor. I plan to install an additional gauge and attach a second cable to the sensor in the next few days, just have a look. Because the gauges I bought have values written on them, the one in the car does not. Somehow it frustrates me that Mazda have installed such crap, yo for what? Have you made any progress? I saw that you changed the resistors last. Brother I wish you all the best Take care
@thirdgengarage3 ай бұрын
@@Freshmattik Makes sense on not adjusting the needle, i'm not familiar with adjusting the gauge on the NC either. 😅 good idea hooking up another gauge to compare. No progress on the sender and gauge, if I end up sourcing an early NA gauge i'll add to the series. For now, i'm happy it's not leaking and i've adjusted to see the gauge move now, rather that just on/off, good enough for now and on to the next project! Thank you, you too!
