Many of these athletes grew up running relays. They are supposed to know the rules fair and square. The coaches are also there to advise and/or remind their athletes of these rules in order to avoid mistakes.

@@garethnorth6530 Gareth, what has Alexis Holmes's baton transfer issue in the 4x400m got to do with this discussion?!🤣🤪---I presume you are still hurt from the fact that in front of the entire world, your precious darling, Femke Bol fell flat on her face and embarrassed herself---But then again, we all know that Bol cannot perform well under pressure--she easily panics and at times, fall over flat on her face.😜

@@kobbieafriyie2172 your unqualified opinion of Femke Bol does not match that of USA 4 x Olympic Champion Sanya Richards-Ross who also holds the 400m USA National record who was talking about her in 2023 on NBC Sports. As an athletics expert you too will have heard the comments. You asked what has ALexis HOlmes got to do with this - it is Alexis Holmes in ht mixed at Budapest referred to in the comment you replied to - and as for Alexis Holmes she panicked in the 400m women’s relay at Budapest and embarrassed herself with the baton error - that’s what happens when she is under pressure and also why she came second in the 400m relay this year in Glasgow coming second behind…. Femke Bol. Yes Alexis Holmes has only done it once ( dropped baton ) however for Femke Bol remind me of the other times ( times plural - your word ) when she has fallen in a race - or was it just once and you were exaggerating ? Only one athlete is allowed to have a poor race in your world.

@@garethnorth6530 You seem emotionally hurt and desperate to defend your darling Bol---but the fact is Femke is a second-rated athlete compared to Sydney------and in a few months, in Paris, Sydney will beat and embarrass Femke Bol so badly, you and her will not recover from the humiliation-----keep crying, Gareth.😝😆😆

The officials knew the rules, the placings are set according to where the incoming runners were at the 200m mark. An athlete has no right to change it. Maybe a bit pedantic but better than allow for a free for all. Fortunately for the US they are strong enough to qualify by either of the other ways, and they qualified by winning the Day 2 heats, albeit unseeded. In fact it's worse for the other teams now because the US can create, what is called in rugby when two or three top teams are in the same group, a "pool of death" in their heat in the Olympics

The Africans in America, Canada won the gold and silver.Thwre was no white race in both teams. They are all Africans with African blood. If Americans and Canadians think they are superior, why didn't they field their original white blood.? Why using blacks? Blacks are superiors. Black gene is the strongest and greatest. Proud to be a black man.

God saw it fit to comfort Botswana n South Africa after both countries experienced tragedies, SA 7 nationals perishing in RTA in Botswana n 45 Batswana nationals perished in SA a month apart, heart breaking how SA delegates brought the remains to Bots only to leave with some back to SA, but here they are, celebrating together, a 3 weeks to a month later, comforting indeed.

Kendall Ellis was very lucky that Bol started 2 seconds behind her and also had to overtake several other runners around the outside in both turns, which add 7 to 8 meters (= 1 second) to the difference, of this 3 seconds in total actually close the gap to 1 second, but of course 3 seconds is to much to bridge. Bol did run an anchor leg of 49.5 which with the extra distance is equivalent to a real 48.5.
